Need Advice on Getting "Washable" Paint Out of Clothes After They've Been Washed

The school that my daughter attends uses washable paints during art. I washed her clothes and the red paint did not come out. I've already dried the clothes. Does anyone have any advice? Her school makes them wear uniforms at 3 years old. This set was $50! I can't send her to school in it looking like this. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
I know this is not much comfort to you, but the only advice I can give you is what I had to learn the hard way. You have to get the paint out while it is still wet on the clothing. Since this is happening in her art class, I would kindly tell the teacher that you have had to replace several uniforms because this paint won't come out. Maybe he or she would try to ensure that the paint either gets washed off while it's still wet, or make sure her uniform is sufficiently covered with an oversized t-shirt or bib. You could even bring one in and request that she wear it during painting. I would imagine that the art teacher would be very understanding.

I have never found a product that got the paint off after it dried. I would also love to hear of a product that works.

Hi J.!

This is a longshot, but have you tried the Oxyclean? It won't bleach out the clothing at all nor discolor it... mix a tablespoon of the Oxyclean with water to make a semi-thin paste like consistency. Treat the area of the clothing with this and let it sit for a few hours to a day, then wash.

I'm hoping this will help...

Hi J. - I expect you've rec'd lots of ideas, but if you haven't found one that works, I have a suggestion. I have an at-home business that includes something called Sol-U-Mel, and I have yet to see the stain it wouldn't remove. Check me out at www.healthyplanetandhomes.com.
