He may be teething, growing, getting ready to crawl, or have an ear infection. Babies go through cycles of good sleeping and "bad sleeping" just like us so hang in there and this will pass. Good Luck!

My five month old son has gone from being an awesome sleeper to a terrible sleeper. Help! He slept through the night perfectly from ten weeks to sixteen weeks. A couple of weeks ago he started waking up for his paci a couple of times a night. So we decided to use the Ferber method to break him of the paci habit. It worked great for a few nights-- he slept eleven hours without a peep- but now for the last three nights he has been waking upevery two hours. Sometimes he plays for fifteen minutes or so, and then gets back to sleep, other times he cries. I did nurse him the last two nights upon his first waking, thinking he might be hungry from a growth spurt. While he nursed himself back to sleep, he continued to wake through the night. Any advice on what could be going on??

Is it possible that he is teething? My little one goes from sleeping through the night to waking up when he is teething. My little one kept waking up, and I did have to increase his nightly cereal and that helped. Good luck.
Hi E.,
As frustrating as it is, I believe it is a normal occurence as your child grows and begins exploring his world. Things to remember: ferberizing doesn't work, don't feed him unless he is actually hungry, and don't go in the room unless he sounds truly distressed. It sounds like he is creating an attention seeking environment and that can spell a lot of sleepless nights for you unless nipped in the bud. I do own a counseling company who specializes in this sort of thing if you'd like more info. contact me.
Good luck!

I would try to re-Ferberize.
