My husband and I just found out that we are expecting our 4th baby girl TODAY! Yes, we were hoping for a boy, but we pushed past the disappointment and realized that we are happy as long as she is healthy :) I think i was more upset because i knew how much my husband wanted a son, but he loves his girls. We are considering the name Talliss, sounds like dallas but with a T. I know its unusal, but it is the name of my husbands great aunt who is of a greek background. I have done some research and the name is growing in popularity in the greek and french cultures for baby girls, in french Tallis means forest, but the name in the Greek language means truth. I am just curious as to what other think and looking for some opinions and maybe a few suggestions for a middle name. We like Talliss Gabrielle Pellegrino. My other three daughters are named Madison, Olivia, and Emerson Marie. Yes, Emerson (we call her emme):) It was my late mothers madien name, so it has lots of meaning... Please feel free to be totally honest... my feeling won't get hurt:) Thanks everyone. Oh and offer lots of suggestions!
I like the name Talliss too! My only thought is the spelling...I'm trying to find a boy's name for myself right now and wanting to find the right name that's unique and meaningful, but also not too complicated for a kid can be tough. But Talliss is really cute.

Congrats on the new baby! I really like the name Talliss, it is so different, and I love the name Gabrielle. I was going to name my daughter Gabrielle or Taylor and chose Taylor out of the two.

My husband is greek and we considered some greek names also. The reason we chose not to use them was because usually people say the names with an accent .we didn't want one child with an "american name " and the other without. I do like the name Gabrielle Talliss Pellegrino. That way it goes with your other girl names. Some other greek names I like are Thalia(means blooming),Amalia(Emily). Good luck to you !

I think it is a great name and this is coming from a person who thinks they should hire a person at the hospital that slaps parents when they try to give their child a stupid name. So you know that I would tell you the truth. All that really matters is that you and your husband like the name. That is unless you are going to name her something like chastidy or mushroom, then I would say you need slap nurses help. lol. I love the name. It is different but cute. I even think that it will catch on and be a very popular name.

I think it's very pretty. I am assuming her name was spelled the same way you are spelling it. The only thing I would suggest would be to spell it Tallas just so that is is easier for everyone to pronounce (instead of them saying Tahl-esssssss or Tah-Leese). But I do like it! Congrats on your baby girl!!

Actually I like Talliss; I think it's neat. We have Linnaea Zera for our girl, and our other girl name was Iris Nadine. Iris is a Greek name too, meaning rainbow, and of course it's the latin name of lovely flowers.
Also for girls I like: Cassiope Ruth, Xyris Elena, Niambi Mara, Malaika Renee, and Khaya with any of the above middle names. But you see, I'm a biologist, and Cassiope, Iris, Linnaea, Xyris, and Khaya are all genus names of flowers or flowering shrubs, so that's me. But Talliss rocks, if you both agree with that one, it's a keeper.

I like the name. It really isn't one that can get made fun of during the cruel ages and with so many children having unique names I dont think it should be an issue anymore. If you like it I say go for it, especially since there is some family history to it.

First off, congratulations! You sound like very enthusiastic parents! I personally would choose Talliss for a middle name. I really love the idea of honoring family members with a middle name. I think its great that you are choosing a name that is not that popular but I would not choose that name. I have a name that is unusual and hard to remember how to pronounce...I would not reccomend it. I would say to choose something that is uncommon but people know how to pronounce it.

I love it!!! And just like that "Talliss" don't change spelling or anything. I love family names. I don't think anyone would really mess it up and to be honest, kids aren't as picky with names as they would've been 30 years ago. It'll be great to be the ONLY Talliss in her class instead of one of 3-4 Ashleys, Jennifers, or Megans. (NO offense to anyone with those names ... i've just always had doubles or triples of those in many of my kids' classes and in my own Girl Scout troop!). THEY all got unique nicknames so they could be differentiated ...
Blessings on the new addition coming soon to your family!!! Many years from now, you will have sons ... because when girls get married, you always "gain a son"!

I actually think it's beautiful. My initial thought when I read the name was, "you men like a talisman?" That's not necessarily a bad thing. But just to give you an idea of what people might associate it with. I think it is wonderful either as a first name or with the two reversed, using it as a middle name. But the combination is perfect. You or others might slip into using Tally as a nickname though, which is pretty, but a little strange here in Florida, since that typically refers to the state capital. But you could also use Lissie or Lizzie as a nickname. I am typically partial to names that aren't overly popular, but not so "strange" or unusual that they are "weird" or will date themselves. I think Talliss is perfect, no matter how you spell it or where in the name you use it. Good choice!

I can appreciate different names - my daughter is Ayla Teresa (pronounced - Aay-La) - however Tallis is just sooo different that I am afraid she will be teased.
