Need a Good Eye Cream

I'm not getting any younger! I'm starting to feel dryness under my eyes, it feels thin and I'm starting to get little bags. I really liked clinique all about eyes but feel bad spending $30 something on a tiny jar. I've tried olay definity and garnier but they don't feel thick enough, it just feels dry again in an hour. Any suggestions on what has worked for you? Thanks!

What can I do next?

As I read the answers I had to laugh because so many want to sell you their product. I sell Avon too and not to knock Avon but I have found the best face and eye cream is plain hemoroid cream. You can find it at the dollar store. I read once that a actress used this to stay young and I tried it. It works believe it or not. Hope this helps.

Wanted to respond sooner - but I was having server problems!

St. Yves Eye Stress Gel is my miracle. It's inexpensive - it reduces swelling and softens wrinkles.
I also use it under my chin if my face seams puffy!

I like the MyChelle line that you can get at Super Supplements. The one for older skin with the pumpkin cleanser and repair creme really helps my dryness.

By the way $30 for a good jar of creme is not that expensive, believe it or not. I found really great cremes at $90 for 3 oz which I thought was outrageous. That I won't spend, but $30 is reasonable.

The other products I liked but don't use any more because I'm trying to be more careful about toxins, but I liked for dryness was Mary Kay. Their Formula 1 line was very hydrating. You get a lot for the money.

TJ-

Hi there! You really do get what you pay for so if you are wanting good results you will need to spend more for a quality product. You may or not realize but what you put on your face may have ingredients in it that will actually age your skin. Read on to educate yourself in what you chose...
You may want to print, as it is a little long....

Ever wonder why so many skin care products you buy even at the health food store have ingredients on their labels that you can’t even read or pronounce? In my view, if you can’t read or pronounce the ingredient names, there is a high likelihood it should not be in your lotion or other skin care products.

Obviously, you really want to avoid using anything potentially toxic on your skin since it goes directly into your blood stream. Go examine the labels on the bottles of skin moisturizers you currently use. You might find that your personal care products contain one most likely many potentially dangerous ingredients.

Here are a few of the most common suspicious ingredients:

* Mineral Oil, Paraffin, and Petrolatum petroleum products that coat the skin like plastic - clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulates and can lead to negative dermatological and other issues: slows cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging, these are suspected causes of cancer, and, disruptive to hormonal activity. By the way, when there is an oil spill in the ocean, don’t they rush to clean it up fast? Then why put that stuff on your skin?

* Parabens widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens! Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities - mimicking estrogen, and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

* Phenol carbolic acid found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

* Propylene glycol used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, and may inhibit skin cell growth or cause skin irritation.

* Acrylamide Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

* Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skins moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a nitrosamine - a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling, comes from coconut or, coconut-derived.

* Toluene Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

* Dioxane - found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane - easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxanes carcinogen-icity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by vacuum stripping. Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as comes from coconut.

It is well-proven that when you apply these chemicals to your skin, they enter your bloodstream and become integrated into your body tissues. In fact, it is probably safer to eat these ingredients than to rub them on your skin. So, do you want to put these chemicals on your absorbant skin? Hopefully not.

So if you want better, you now can read the below and if you want to get it, it has a 100% guarantee! I will show you how to get it thru Mannatech, Inc. Reach me at ____@____.com

MANNATECH INC.'S PRESERVATIVE-FREE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS HAVE NONE OF THE ABOVE!!

This healthy-for-your-skin Optimal Skin Care System has already proved to be popular in Japan - home of the water technology used in the formulation - as well as in Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. It is now being distributed in the US market! It is said to also contain no fragrances or colorants, and the formulation contains a proprietary water technology, which basically entails filtering and ionizing it to increase its purity and in turn extend the shelf life.

In addition to providing a means of eliminating including preservatives, the water filtration technology is also said to provide a means of hydrating skin cells more efficiently than the filtered-only water commonly used in other skin care products. Clinical studies showed that Mannatech's skin care line provided 'dramatic' improvements in skin moisture, rehydration, smoothness and radiation.

Indeed, the study reported that after just one use, skin hydration had improved by 80%, while after 8 weeks skin moisture had improved 100%, skin roughness declined by 96% and skin radiance improved 75%!

Optimal Skin Care http://www.revolutionaryskincare.info

New skin care line features preservative-free formulation technology!

Mannatech Inc. has launched a new skin care line featuring a proprietary water technology that renders the formulation free of any need for the usual preservatives - giving it an awesome advantage in the increasingly competitive market for natural-based products.

TJ,

Of course the many consultants out there are going to try to convince you that you need an expensive product that they sell because it's better...that's like saying one brand of clothing is better than another. There's simply too many varieties and personal preferences that impact our perceptions.

I've tried to switch from expensive department store skin care products to more natural, less expensive products. It's been fun to save money and try different products that are hopefully better for my skin. I've also been aware of pthalates and parabens in products and try to avoid them since I still plan on having more children and would like to avoid potentially dangerous chemicals.

If you want to find an around-eye cream that has fewer potentially harmful ingredients here's a link to a cosmetics database put together by the environmental working group...
http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/browse.php?category=arou...

There are hundreds of products out there! The EWG website is also very, very, very cautious...so I would probably use any product that had a green or yellow dot next to them, and avoid the red dots!

I use an apricot seed oil based lotion (i think it's by mychelle) and it's super inexpensive and lasts a long time. It's hard to find, but Super Supplements carries that brand, although I've had to buy sample sizes at times because they sell out of the larger jars.

Good morning TJ,
There are a lot of creams out there, but the main function of most of them is to hold in the moisture that is already there. Sometimes it is better to take a "Beauty from the inside out" approach. Drinking plain old water is the simplest and cheapest way to hydrate your skin, plus it's good for all your organs as well! Adding omega-3 fats to your diet will help as well, things like flax oil or ground flax seed, walnuts, fish oils, etc. Cutting out trans fats and cutting back on sugar and highly processed foods will, over time, start to give your skin a younger glow as well. Hope this helps! If you would like more info on a healthier lifestyle/diet please contact me, I am a Wellness Educator for Juice Plus and would love to talk with you!

Hi TJ - I read your question and then had a chuckle as I read response after response of someone trying to get you to buy their product!! Teehee. Listen, if you like clinique, and you think it works well, then keep on buying it! The other women that were offering you a chance to try things were going to charge you the $30-something you pay now for something you like anyways!! Clinique also lets you return, at least they did back when I used to buy it. Too often as mother's we forget about ourselves and put everyone else ahead of us..i know I do. Lord knows I DESPERATELY need to buy some clothes. $30 bucks really isn't that much, and it will probably last you at least 2 months, so that's really $15 a month. Does your husband get coffee in the morning? Do you? I mean, coffe drinks are CRAZY expensive! $15 bucks is like 3 drinks! Don't feel bad about doing something for you. L.

All that being said... those other products probably work great....I am not dissin' anyone's products or jobs. I am just pointing out that if she is going to have to spend that much anyways, she might as well go with something she knows and loves.
Good night

Hi TJ - I'm a firm believer of Arbonne's eye cream!! This is the specific product in their line, actually, that got me sold on the company in the first place! It got rid of my dark circles and bags in no time, and people noticed, it was not just in my head. I liked the product so much, I spent weeks researching the products and the business and decided to go into business myself sharing it with others. It's a combination of nature along with science (a strictly natural product may be healthy for you, but if it doesn't give you results what good is it?). The best products are those that combine the best of nature along with technology to actually deliver the good ingredients where they need it in your skin's layers.

Arbonne's eye cream is pthalate, and paraben free. The eye cream is very concentrated so a little goes a long way, and my eye cream lasts anywhere from 6-9 months using is consistently day and night. So it's a great value.

Email me offline with your address, and I'll send you a free sample to try at home, so you can see for yourself.

Good luck TJ! There are lots of products out there to choose from. Hopefully you can find one that meets your needs/budget/and philosophy.

All you really need is a good & natural cream or lotion made of plants, fruits, & oils. Store bought cosmetics are made from ingredients you can buy at the hardware store! These can actually encourage these problems you are having! I do not mean to self spam but I am all about this kind of thing. I own a candle, bath, & body business that is all handcrafted from natural rescources & ingredients. It is a small local online shop. Nothing huge but you may get some good leads by reading some cosmetic info on my listings (you need paypal to purchase on this website. Jojoba oil is what I use for my face, under my eyes and on my body. I had a facial this weekend and I was told that my skin looks beautiful which was a surprise because I have a history of having very dry skin. Jojoba oil is less expensive than face/eye creams and natural. Most lotions have chemicals in them that are harmful for us. Jojoba is light and soaks in quickly so you are able to put on make up afterwards. Give it a try!

TJ, I sell a product unlike anything else on the market. it is so new that it is not yet nationally marketed yet but does have a patent pending on it. It is called Naturella. It is 100% natural. It is a toner/ moisturizer all in one. It is the best stuff you will ever use. It has made my skin so smooth and even that I don't have to use foundation anymore. My neighbor has started using it after using olay regenerist for 5 years and said she will never use anything else. It has reduced the fine lines around my eyes to almost invisible. I am 43 and everyone thinks I'm 10 years younger. You can go to the website at naturellaskin.com and look at it. I am willing to send you a free sample to try if you are interested. let me know. J.

I use the Neutrogena eye serum (I read that "serum" was better than just "cream," though that still may be bogus)...but I like how it feels. I put it on, and then a face moisturizer on my whole face (with spf).

You might consider the Mary Kay eye cream, too. It's really thick...too thick for me, but it will keep the area well moisturized.
