I **love** the book "Chili Nation" by Jane and Michael Stern. You probably can get it from the library even. They have a chili recipe for every state in the nation and there is a great variety and they taste wonderful -- even ones that you wouldn't expect. FE, Chili with three heads (not cloves) of garlic, peanut chili, chili with raisins, and chili with coffee or beer, just to name a few.
