Need a Good CD Player for Toddler

My 23 month old son has listened to a lullaby cd ever since he was born. He will not sleep without it. The problem is....we go through so many cd players because the cd is on repeat all night (about 11 hours) every night plus 2 hours for nap time. I'm tired of buying 3 or 4 cd players a year. I feel like I'm throwing my money away. What do other moms do? Is there a really good cd player that will work really good and last longer?

What can I do next?

I would opt to transition to a white noise machine instead of the cd. Try using the white noise machine just during naptime and then using it at night. That way you won't go through so many cd players! I don't think even the BEST brands are going to last you any longer than a few months if you use it that much unfortunately! : (

I've had my cheap $20 CD player from Walmart for a little over 4 years now (December, 2005). Perhaps you can just hit play on the CD and walk out? Does it really have to be on repeat? We play ours (once through) EVERY night, and at naptime, and also just for fun sometimes: fast silly music for cleaning up, zydeco music to teach my son to dance, sometimes background music for play time or dinner, but always every single night Mozart adagios or worship music for sleeping. I would try putting the music on and letting it play through until it ends, or if you think that's not long enough then put it on repeat until you're going to bed then sneak in and turn it off? See if that works.

I suggest buying a good stereo system instead of a cd player. It may cost a little more but will probably save you money in the long run.

that's what i was going to suggest like Megan, white noise machine. my 5 year olds still use it, we have it set for waves sound, it's wonderful for them.
as for CD players, you need something safe and light as he'll be exploring the room pretty soon. i have a barbie CD player for my girls, and so far it's been holding up pretty well. does not have any of these fancy stuff like repeat and all but 14 songs out of a cd is more than enough

Instead of a cd player that has to be on all night I have my iPod dock with speakers and his own "playlist".
This way it can change as he grows, we can take it with us (the iPod anyway) and the playlist can be as long as you want it to be.

Ours has lasted over 3 years now (I got it before he was born and he turns 3 next week).

Hope this helps.
