I have been invited to a "cookie swap" holiday party at the end of the week. I am not a creative baker, I must admit. Does anyone have any yummy cookie ideas/recipes? Thanks!!!!
Take one chocolate cake mix and add 1/2 cup oil. Mix together well. Roll into balls and coat with powdered sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cookies will "crack" as they flatten. They are easy and pretty; and they taste yummy.
For different flavors, you can use any cake mix.....Cherry is my favorite.
I made these tonight. They are very tasty!
At first I was concerned b/c the recipe calls for brown sugar only and not both brown and white sugar but they are very good. My husband and kids loved them.

I second the cake mix recipe.
Try it with a dab of mint extract and it's a choc mint cookie.
Try it with dusting powdered sugar over the top before they bake and they're super good.
Also, these are soft inside but are hard enough on the outside to stack/package well.

This is more of a candy than a cookie, but great for Christmas, and little kids can help (mine started at age 2 placing the Herhsye's kisses)
Reindeer Noses
need: waffle pretzels (the square ones), Hershey's kisses, and red M&M's
heat your oven to the lowest setting. Lay out pretzels on a cookie sheet in a single layer, place one kiss on each pretzel. Heat in the oven about 5 minutes until the kiss is soft (test with the end of a wooden spoon). Pull them out of the oven and quickly put a red M&M on top of each and squish it in just a little - it looks like Rudolph's nose on his furry brown muzzle! But get them on quick before the chocolate starts cooling or it will crack when you push the candy in.
My boys (7 and 4 1/2) LOVE making these every year for everyone they know. They started out just laying out the pretzels and placing kisses, but last year the then 6 year old was great adding M&M's - it was a little messier for the 3 year old, but he loved trying!
I make Gingerbread cookies for my exchange.... You need to make them one day, refrigerate, then cut/bake the next day.
I like gingerbread because it lasts. Alot of the cookies at the exchanges dry up and become less tasty after a few days, but not gingerbread. It's relatively cheap to make them too.
I have lots of tips for you if you decide this is what you want to do pm me.
If you want easy... go for bars. You could make Brookies... which is a brownie mix and a cookie mix. You do the cookie mix as directed, but spread it in the bottom of a 9 x 13 (Pam on the bottom). Mix brownie mix as directed and dollop and smooth on top of cookies layer. I think you bake it about 30 minutes. Just do the toothpick test.

this is always a favorite:
buy premade peanut butter cookie dough or make your own - roll in small balls and place in mini muffin tins - bake until just barely golden
as soon as you take them out of the oven - press an unwrapped mini reeses peanut butter cup in the center. cool.
Yummy!!!!!they are like little peanut butter cup pies!
my most requested cookie is oatmeal white chocolate cranberry cookies. make your basic choco chip cookie (white of course), add a cup or two of oatmeal and some dried cranberries. they stay moist and chewy! you can make these low fat butter wise and no one will ever tell!
