I seem to get nauseous when i nurse my 6 week old baby. Not to the point of throwing up, but i just don't feel good. Has anyone else experienced this? He is my second baby that i have breastfed and i didnt have any problems with last one.
My nipples are very sore and it hurts to nurse.

What can I do next?

I DID experience occasional nauseousness while breastfeeding my first child, my doctor told me it was more than likely due to the hormones involved in the let-down process. It seemed to go away completely by the time he was about 3 months or so.

Are you experiencing any other symptoms? Are your breasts sore, hot, or red? You might have an infection working. You might also just need to eat more. Things rich in protein and healthy fats. Are you possibly anemic?

I never felt nauseated during breastfeeding, but it does create quite a rush of hormones when the milk lets down and I have heard of this effect. My daughter experienced this for a few weeks early on. And nausea is fairly common when related to other hormone changes, like starting or changing birth control pills, and when we get pregnant. This sensation will probably fade in coming weeks.

For extreme nipple soreness, do yourself a favor and try nipple shields. My first weeks of breastfeeding were intensely painful, with nipples so raw they would bleed. Nipple shields during nursing for several days really turned that around.

You might want to try drinking more water before feeding. I think that helped me some. If things don't improve or you develop other symptoms, definitely contact the doctor. Good luck and congrats on your new baby!

I had severe morning sickness and was unable to eat any sort of foods. With the help of No to morning sickness tea I managed my nausea and vomiting.

The let down would make me feel a little squeamish in the beginning. I learned to expect it then ignore it and it finally went away. Make sure the baby has a good latch. Soreness would sort of come and go with me. After your shower always make a point to rub your boobs kind of hard with the towel while you are drying off, it helps toughen them up some.

It could be mastitis. Ususally you'd notice a painful plugged duct, but sometimes you just feel the "flu like symptoms." You are only 6 weeks postpartum and so your health is still a bit delicate, call your doctor to be on the safe side. Congrats on your new baby!

Yes this happened with the letdown for me. Was very uncomfortable.

Don't forget to really watch the latch. Baby's body should be facing you and her head, shoulder and hip should be in a straight line. Make sure his bottom lip is out too.

The only times I was ever nauseous during breastfeeding was when I was pregnant and still nursing. Is that possible?

When my milk lets down I sometimes feel a wave of strange flu-like symptoms, (I get kind of flushed/hot and cold at the same time-feeling) but it just lasts for a moment then is gone, and for some reason it seems to happen only when he's nursing on one side.

It happened to me with all 3. I didn't last very long.
