Try the sea bands. The are for sea sickness. They work the pressure points. You can probably find them at Walgreens. They are ugly wrist bands, but they did help me a little.
Good luck.
I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I have been feeling really sick and was wondering if any of you have suggestions of what I can do. I've tried gingerale and saltine crackers and the preggie pops. I need help! Thanks!
Wow, I am overwhelmed with all of the wonderful messages I have received from everyone. Thank you SO MUCH! It's so nice to have so many people to relate to. Well, I did get a prescription for ZOFRAN and I have been taking that during the day. It helps, but I still feel sick, but not as sick. This morning, I feel WONDERFUL! My husband picked up UNISOM last night and I took at 1/2 tablet with my Vitamin B-6 and I feel great today. Hopefully that will be the trick! I still took the Zofran this morning, just to be on the safe side. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking your time to respond to my post! :o)
At 16 weeks, I'm still nauseous every now and then. I'm still taking 1/2 of a Unisom and Vitamin B-6 every night and Zofran on the days that I feel sick. We found out last weekend that we are having a baby BOY! We are very excited!

First of all - congratulations!
Second...been there...twice...everybody's body is different. That being said, some moms have never had to deal with the extreme nausea/vomiting that you and I have (had). Let me first say that this is a good thing, even though when you are going through it, it may seem horrible. Your body is creating an excess amount of progesterone - a hormone that will help your body 'lower it's defenses' so that your body will not reject your fetus. (due to having half mommy and half daddy cells). Once all your hormones level out, the nausea will go away...For me, eating something high in protein early in the morning - egg- worked great! Sometimes your prenatal whole food supp - make sure it is a whole food supplement - can cause nausea - if so, try taking it at night before you go to sleep. Dried papaya and Sea Bands work if you are not vomiting and just nauseous (sp?) Another thing that helped me was to eat all organic/natural as much as possible and don't eat sugar...I found that any time I ate something from a restaurant or someone's house that was not organic, (had pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, high fructose corn syrup, or msg) I would be nauseous almost immediately and throw up.
Make sure to drink LOTS of water!!! never let yourself get hungry..
Hope this helps - just remember that your body is rejecting things that may harm your baby - that always got me through it.
:)
You need to get the chewable papaya enzymes tablets. They taste just like papaya and they make the nausea better enough, you might even feel like eating. They are all natural and you can get them at Sherlyn's, Smith's herbal center, Walmart over by the antacids and probably from any natural store. Or try Dave's or Good Earth even.
A.,
I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so sick. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was also very sick when I was pregnant. (My son is now two!)I don't know if this will help, but when I was pregnant, nothing helped my nausea and sickness. Unfortunately, I had to wait it out during my first trimester. The good news is you are almost through that! After that, my doctor put me on perscription medication called Zophran. I have been told many doctors don't offer this as a solution because it is a very expensive drug that insurence companies don't like to pay for. ($800 perscription that you will pay $20 for) This may not be an option for you depending on how much actual vomiting you are doing. I took it through out my last 6 month of pregnancy and delivery. It was the ONLY thing that worked for me. Good Luck!
I had extreme morning sickness to the point that the only way I was able to consume ANY calories in a day was to take an anti-nausea pill prescribed by my Doctor. One is called Phenergan. I am not sure of spelling. If nothing else ask for generic of compazine. It comes in pill and suppository form. This usually does the trick.
I can relate. I am holding my baby #3 that was born sept 1 2007!! I really had a hard time felling well during pregnancy 2 and 3. My doc had to prescribe pills to me during preg #2 that really helped with the icky feeling. I cant remember the name of the drug but it is usually used in cancer patients that are going through chemo. Also I had to make sure that I never let my tummy get too full or too empty. I had to eat every hour and 1/2 or so. I felt like I was on full feed but it really did help. Then b4 I knew it I was about 20 weeks and the icky feeling was completely gone! Hurray! Good luck and God bless you and your family!
I'm 8 1/2 wks along!! Congrats to you.
Each one of my children have been different from having no food to drink lots of water and i wouldn't get sick.
1st - find what you need...this doesn't work for everyone, but really has for me. Like I said my first child I had waterbottles with me everywhere - and my nausea stopped once I drank some.
Now, with my 3rd - it's food - I have to keep food in me so I have granola bars on me at all times - if I start burping air I know my tummy is empty and I'll get sick feeling.
My dr also mentioned yesterday Gingeroot and she gave me a bag full of samples of this new sucker - not preggie pops...the are Vitamen B6 pops - which is supposed to be very helpful - though I haven't tried them yet...you can ask for them from your dr....see if they have samples.
Someone posted this a few months ago , so you might want to look it up. these helped a bit for me:
*Ginger tea
*Sucking on hard candy--especially peppermint or lemon
*Sucking on a lemon wedge
*Instead of cracker, dorritos worked
*7up
*Sea bands
*motion sickness pills(my Dr.advise)
GL and Congratulations!
I have been through three wretched pregnancies (love my babies, hate getting them here ;) and was basically sick through all three. I tried everything. Vitamin b6 and unisom seemed to take the edge off. I actually got so dehydrated with my second pregnancy from throwing up that I ended up in the ER twice to get fluids. If it is really severe there are a couple of prescriptions that your doctor can prescribe IF NECESSARY (please, nobody jump on me here for recommending pills. Sometimes they are important to keep you and the baby healthy.) I tried phenergan, but it gives me anxiety attacks. A new one called zofran is VERY expensive, but VERY effective. One time in the ER they gave me some in my IV and I was able to eat /and/ keep food down for a few hours. It was sadly exciting. Even though we were broke my husband took me out to get whatever I wanted to eat during that couple of hours just so I would enjoy eating.
If nothing else helps, I recommend being careful of what you eat. I know it sounds sick, but consider how something will treat you on the way back up. I read once that eating almonds first thing in the morning can help morning sickness. I tried it, threw them up, and had a sore throat for 3 days from throwing up the bits of scratchy nuts! Stick to softer foods that won't taste so bad the second time around. Also, if you know you're bound to throw up... try chewing a few Tums. They may not help keep things down, but they can help 'things' be less acidic and do less damage to your throat, mouth, teeth, etc.
PEPPERMINTS! they work wonders :)
I was sick for 9 months with my second son, try cutting a fresh lemon in 1/2 and sniffing it. Sounds wierd but something about citrus is supposed to help with sickness.
Good luck!
My advice for you is the B6 Vitamin 100mg. daily. It was reccommended to me and two of my friends. It absolutely works!!! Ask your Doctor if you like, but I promise it works. Good Luck and it will get better.
I was really sick with my second, and needed to go on medication. It is safe, and I was only on it for about 2 months, but well worth it. I think it was called Zophran. If your doctor is alright with it, I'd give it a try. It took a huge edge off the nausea. Other than that, just try to keep something in your stomach frequently to avoid the acid from building up. Hope you start to feel better soon!
Have you tried sucking on hard candies. This helped my aunt who had the same problem.
Hope this helps,
A.
Looks like you got a lot of great advice--one of the things that helped me when I had nausea was constantly brushing my teeth after eating anything so that I always had a clean taste in my mouth. I realize that can only do so much, but it made a difference. :)
I found that gingersnap cookies worked best the taste pretty good.
I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and had been puking three times a day until the 17th week! So I feel your pain! The only thing that helped me was sucking on a lemon drop. I read about it, thought it sounded weird, but I was desperate. I had the Lemon Heads and regular Lemon Drops and they both did the trick. I would pop a couple in my mouth as soon as I started feeling sick. Hope it works for you!
I took vitamin b6 I think. I was told that would help on its own and if it didnt, take it with Unisom. Something about the combo helps with nausea. Be sure to ask your doctor before trying it. If it gets too bad, there is a drug called Zofran that is AMAZING!
Try fresh ginger root. Slice a couple of thin slices off (after you pleel the skin off) and let is seep in hot water for about 5 min. You can add a touch of honey for a sweeter taste. Ginger is really good at calming an upset stomach. One of my massage teachers told me this when I was going to school and I was pregnant. He has a masters degree in Oreintal Medicine so I trusted his advise and it worked great for me. Hope it works for you.
What are you eating? I was very sick with my son and found out that I could only eat salads and drink tea. Watch the foods you eat, and the environment you are in. Any thing could upset you at this delicate time. Smoke, any perfumes or dies, pets, food smells. When you are pregnant alot of things change in your body's chemicals and anything can have an effect on you. I have 5 kids, I have had 3 different kinds of pregnancies. Need any more help, just ask.
HOPE YOU START FEELING BETTER. Get some fresh air.
T. C
I had that problem till I was 20 weeks and then off and on throughout the only thing I could get on my stomach was pineapple, it has digestive enzymes in it that soothe not for long but any time not being sick and getting some food for your baby is good. Also b6 vitamin but you need to check with your doctor or pharacist to get accurate dose per your weight...
Here are just a few suggestions that I have personally used and have heard helped others.
Motion Sickness Bracelets
B Vitamin Complex (big help)
Smelling anything Citrus
Ginger (real ginger)
Grazing all day. Keeping something in your stomach helps.
Peppermints
There is a safe anti nausea medication that the doctor can prescribe if needed as well.
Good Luck and God Bless
I got really nautious with all my pregnancies (5 of them) and I really liked the Sea Bands. They look like athletic wrist bands but they have little balls that put pressure on your wrists and relieve nausea. They don't work all the time, but are sure a great help. I found if I moved them around a little when they didn't seem to be working anymore they would kick in again. I found them at my local pharmacy. Hope you find some relief soon!
A.:
You might want to try eating baked potatoes. I relied alot on peppermint. Usually peppermint patties, candy canes or the Brachs Peppermint candy. Did you ever experience nausea with your other two pregnancies? It should only last through the first trimester. Hopefully you will find something that helps.
L.
I would definitely try the basics first, but as you said they haven't worked yet, talk to your doctor about a prescription. I was sick with my first child for 20 weeks. So this time around I talked to my doctor up front and wanted some serious help. I was on home I.V.s and Zofran. You can get Zofran just in a pill though. It has made all the difference for me and I was feeling better around week 13. (I'm now 20 weeks) Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.
Hi A.! I'm 20 weeks along now and had the worst sickness in the beginning. I finally went in for a cranio sacral appointment and it was like switch had been turned off. I felt SO amazing and was kicking myself for not going in earlier. If you can't find one in your area, try a chiropractor.
I also used ginger root capsules. I went through quite a few in a day.
S.
Hi A.,
I think the more protein you can get in you the better you feel.Meat never appealed to me, but cheese and crackers or peanut butter on toast always seemed to work! Lemon and peppermint tea is supposed to help too! I hope you feel better soon. Root Beer always sounded good to me too. It's worth a try!!
Best of Luck- it won't last forever!
C.
I had severe morning sickness with both my pregnancies. A here are a few things helped me...
1. check with your doctor about taking HALF a Unisom. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
2. Find a scent that does not upset your tummy - for me it was lavender. I bought a bottle of lavender oil & put a tiny drop on a cotton ball & dabbed the end of my nose with it. It blocked out the smells of the day pretty nicely - you can do this with any essential oil, or even with Vicks VapoRub, if the menthol will help. n Also, a fresh orange or lemon rind is nice & refreshing. You can just keep one at your desk (if you work) or around the house & pinch off a piece of it & sniff to refresh you
3. I worked in a small enough department that my coworkers were kind enough to stop wearing colognes & perfumes because of the number of trips I made to the bathroom every day :-(
4. WATER WATER WATER WATER - dehydration causes a lot of dizziness & nausea. Skip soda & go for cold water, perhaps with a lemon wedge?
5. Brush your teeth. I did this so often, just because the fresh mint taste made me feel better. I carried a spare toothbrush & paste in my purse
6. cold washcloths on the back of your neck or on your forehead when you feel particularly icky also help.
Good luck!
xtina
I would evaluate your pre-natal vitamins and diet closely. By the third child you may be depleted in some critical nutrients and may require more than previous pregnancies. I would particularly recommend consulting with a wellness professional that can make recommendations. (like a pediatric chiropractor-you can find one on www.icpa4kids.com.)
Hi A.,
Place your saltine crackers at your bedside before going to sleep. When you wake-up (still in bed) eat as many crackers as you can. The key here is to remain in bed while eating the crackers. I hope this will help you.
Hi,
When do you take your prenatal vitamins? Are you on different ones? My doctor told me to eat 6 small meals throughout the day and that seemed to help.
Time will unfortunately may be the only answer. I had all day sickness with my second child until 4 months! Do you take your prenatal vitamin at night or day? I took half at night and half mid-day, always with a snack. This seemed to help some too. I even tried motion sickness bands, alittle relief. But one day about 4 months and 2 days it was like someone hit a switch and it was gone. So be patient:)
I'm sorry to hear you are having such a rough go of it. I personally never had morning sickness, but I know of a few people who used motion sickness bands to help combat the nausea. I have heard it works. Just a suggestion, sorry I can't be more help.
I was in the same boat as you, it sucks. Candy kind of worked when I was on the road. Other than that lemons really helped me. Either smelling them or eating them (w/ salt, not a great snack but whatever works!). And my midwife mentioned that just the smell of ginger tea worked for her daughter. If not then I'd suggest asking your doctor for a prescription. I used phenergen and it worked, but the downside is the drowsiness, I often took two one hour naps during the day. Hopefully this won't last too long for you! It took me until my 12th week and I was feeling a lot better, and I lost about 10 lbs. during that time. lol Good luck!
B. Y.
I had success with burning cinnamon scented candles throughout the day. Another way to fill your house with a cinnamon scent is to boil a small pot of water and add a few cinnamon sticks and let simmer. I had a friend who was very into homeopathic remedies when I was pregnant with my second son who suggested this and it worked very well.
Have you tried the bands that go around your wrists? They are called Sea-bands (I think) and are supposed to help too. They sort of bothered my wrists but did help a bit. Hope you start feeling better soon!
hello!
sorry you dont feel well, but when i was pregnant i realized that my prenatal vit. made me sick so i started taking them with dinner, and then i was fine! hope this helps.
Hi I'm M.. I'm 11 weeks with my 4th. I have never felt as sick as I have with this one. I tried a few of the reg things to help but nothing worked. Finally the the Dr. wrote a prescription for Fenagrin and that helped but only at night as it made me very sleepy. Then he wrote another for Zolfren. Oh my goodness, they have made all the difference. Now that I am almost to 12 weeks, the nausea is started to fade considerably without the drugs. Hang in there. By the way, I'm sure the names of the drugs are spelled wrong. If you ask your Dr. they will know what they are.
Try ginger snaps! It is the ginger that really helps with Nausea, and most ginger ale you buy from the store does not actually have ginger in it.
When I was pregnant with my second child I had horrible nausea, vomiting, and I always got car sick before I even got to the end of my driveway. I couldn't get off the couch for months. My doc said it would go away at 18 weeks. It didn't. I threw up regularly until 2 days after my daughter was born. The nausea never really went away, and I started having severe back pain between my shoulder blades, around my ribs on the right side, and a burning below my sternum. My doctor diagnosed me with acid reflux and prescribed Nexium, which did nothing for the pain or nausea. Then I told a friend about my symptoms and she told me to get my gallbladder checked. Turned out I had gallstones the whole time that had grown very large since the problem went undiagnosed for so long. Since I was pregnant, my doc just thought it was normal pregnancy stuff. If you are feeling significantly sicker with this child than you did the first two, and your symptoms begin to mimic mine I would ask your doc about gallbladder problems. My surgeon said gallbladder problems are very common in pregnant women or women who have had multiple pregnancies, as the increase in hormone levels can lead to gallstones.
Regarding managing your nausea, I took a 'cocktail' of meds. I took a Unisom everynight before bed, (make sure you get the doxylamine succinate tablets, not the softgels). Your doc may prescribe Zofran, but it made me jittery so I took Reglan instead. Towards the end of my second tri-mester and clear through my third tri-mester I wore the Transderm scope patch, which helped also.
Well, I hope this helps. Keep your chin up, it will pass and you will feel human again someday! Just get plenty of rest and take care of yourself-the housework can wait. Congrats and good luck to you! :)
i was also very sick when i was pregnant with my son. Ask your Ob if it is safe for you to take anti-nausea pills. I remember being on one and it helped.
I had the similar issue and most of the prego women feel the same. Anyhow, I managed my sickness and nausea by drinking "no to morning sickness tea" that's preservative-free and safe for both baby and mom.
Holy cow, Candy Canes are a miracle for morning sickness. Someone told me that with my first and so I stocked up. With my second (I'm prego now) they worked like magic. Also, Make sure you get all of the sleep you need and eat something every two hours. Not anything huge, just small niblets of something. If you do those to things, you can usually keep it under control. Congrats and good luck!
when i was pregnant i use to suck on hard candy such as pepperment and my nausea would go away, or i'd drink a little bit of chocolate milk to coat my stomache
i took half of a b12 supplement and a sleep aid it worked for a while hope this helps
even if you HATE it, try hot tea!!! it will work
Hi A.,
Im am a pro when it comes to being sick when Im pregnant. I throw up every twenty minutes or so all the way till two weeks after I have my babies. With each I lost over 30lbs but had 8lb babies go figure. Crazy huh. But it makes for giving great suggestions.
Try the sea sick bands. You can get them at walmart pharmacy just ask for them. They are little bands that have a button that pushes a pressure point tat will help.
Theres an essential oil called Peppermint. You can do three things one put a bit on your tongue the other is to put a couple of drops in some warm water and sip it. Dont drink to much water just do a little bit at first to see if it works. And the third is to put a bit under your nose so you can smell it. Oh wait I thought of another you can get raspberry leaf tea and do some in that.
Have you tried coke syrup yet. Again you can get this at a pharmacy. Its nasty (or atleast in my opinion) but it seemed to help a little
Eat something before you even sit up in bed. This works for other people. It didnt really work for me because I would wake up to throw up all night so that just wasnt really an option.
Ooo. Now this might sound nasty but really was the only thing I could eat and keep down each day. Lemons. Peal them and eat them like and orange. They actually have a alkaline content that will help. I would suggest brushing your teeth after though.
Oh.. I know. Herbalife has some incredible herbal aloe drink that sooths your stomach right away. My best friend just had twins and used this for morning sickness and for heartburn. I would try this. I dont know because I wasnt a part of Herbalife till after my last baby, but I have some in my fridge for my kids when they are sick. I wish I would have had it then, it worked so good for her. If you would like to try a sample send me a personal note and I will send you some.
My other solution is to give your body some really great nutrition before you go to sleep try and eat a pretty good amount of protein as it last the longest. Sometimes we have the morning sickness problem because we get to empty during the night.
Well A., I hope this works or at least helps. I probably have a few others to try but these where the ones that stick out.
Good luck! S. W.
First of all, congratulations!!
Second, I know you've had a ton of responses to go through, but couldn't help but put my 2 cents in too...
I'm 26 weeks along now and had horrible "morning" sickness until about 16 weeks. Others have mentioned it, but the only thing that helped me was the 1/2 Unisom at night in combo with the B vitamin. It was a lifesaver from day 1. I still had a few waves of nausea every day or so, but it was no longer the constant in my life.
I've also heard the Sea Bands can work well, but i didn't try that myself.
Finally, if your pre-natal has a high level of iron, try taking it at night - or ask your Dr for one with less. I still cannot take mine in the morning without feeling sick.
Good luck!!
ok A.,
we are in the same boat. I am 13 weeks along and so sick. I've been to st als e.r 4 times in a month for iv fluids and now they have me going in a few times a week for fluids. You can take anti nausea meds, prescribed by your dr for the nausea. They are safe and help somewhat. Try to focus on carbs. I read carbs are what help right now.
good luck!!
Hi A.,
When I was pregnant with my two girls, I also had morning sickness pretty bad. The only thing that helped me was to get some saltine crackers and put them buy my bedside at night. In the morning don't even sit up, eat your crackers first(about 3) then go to the fridge and drink a small glass of milk. It did help! If I sat up first, I just ended up throwing up. Maybe that will help.
S.
I know how you feel. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was sick all the time. One thing that used to help me was I took my prenate vitamins before I went to bed insted of in the morning. Also you could try warm tea with a round peppermint in it. Congratulations on your new addition. Hope all goes well with you and your family.

A.,
Hello! The only thing I could eat in the mornings when I was pregnant was Salt and Vinegar potatoe chips! Sounds crazy, but the tartness really helped. I would also suck on sour candies and cinnamon jolly ranchers or atomic fire balls. I found that if I had a glass of milk (chocolate milk for me since I hate plain milk)before I went to bed that helped and then I would nibble on some graham crackers or wheat thins before even getting out of bed in the morning. Best of luck!
K.
Try ginger tea or one of the B vitamins...I think it's B12 but you might want to ask your doctor/midwife. Good luck!
the best thing that is made for nausa is rasberry leaf it comes in capsule form and you can buy it at any health food store.
Hi
I was sick all 9 months with my 2 child ..so i found that before i got up i sip on ginger ale and take 4 saltine crackers and also do the same at night and that helped a little ..not all the time but i could sleep at least
Congrulations and have fun
H.
Eat a piece of cheese. The protein and fat is supposed to really help with nausea and it helped me to eat cheese. I got to be a pro at it because I was sick for 20wks with our son. I hope that it goes away soon for you!
I had nausea with both of my pregnancies and the thing that worked best for me was more snacks during the day. My cousin had more nausea and vomiting with first pregnancy, she used motion sickness wrist bands and they helped her some.
Peppermint tea is great for an upset stomach and is a great warm treat during this cold winter season. Good luck. M.
Ginger snaps helped me. Peppermint also helped a lot-- peppermint ice cream, taffy, tea, breathmints...pretty much anything peppermint.
Try ginger chews. You can get them at local health food stores.
hello. i have two little girls and was sick with both during my pregnacies. i just heard the other night from two mothers that they got the bracelots that you wear for motion sickness. they say it works really well. give it it try. it can't hury you. it is just where it hits your preasure point for nauseasness.
carry some peppermint around with you and sniff when you feel nauseated.
good luck!
Melissa B has it right I was sick from beginning to end and it wasn't until my last one that my Dr suggested it.....wished someone would of told me with the 2 previous. Just use the red boxed unisom and if half doesn't help take a whole pill, it won't knock you out either.
I agree with Melissa, that is what the doctor put me on. Also propell water tasted very good too. Just be careful with all the added vitamins and nutrients, if you are currently taking prenatal vitamins. Good luck!
Oh my gosh, I know your pain! I was so sick both times I lost 15 pounds with each. With my second, the doctor told me I didn't have to suffer and gave a prescription. I can't remember what it was... but if you are really sick, it wouldn't hurt to ask you're doctor what you're options are and what the risks are. My none-doctor suggestion would be to eat small snacks several times a day instead of meals. Keeping my stomach from emptying did help. Good luck figuring out what works best for you.
I think you should talk to your doctor. I was very sick with my son my WHOLE pregnancy. I had to be on medication and have a pic line put in for I.V.'s every day. I threw up everything I ate or drank the whole time. I tried to do all the remedies and nothing worked. I thought it was just morning sickness, but it was way worse then that. I hope this does not happen to you. Just talk to your doctor so some how you can stay hydrated and get nutrition. After my pregnancy I was immediately better. But it took a toll on my teeth ( I went from 0 cavities to 9!)
I had a lot of nausea when I was pregnant. I did not have an appetite at all [ the smell of everything made me sick to my stomach]. I just small meals [ a couple of graham crackers, piece of toast w/ PB., dry cereal, etc etc..] I also sucked on hard candy ALOT.. The peppermints [ red/white ones], as well as cinnamon ones. I found that those were the only things that kept my gag reflex in check.
I thought at 1 time dr.s were saying take vitamin B? You might double check though! ???
This may sound crazy, and like the last thing you would want in your sick tummy, but I ate jalepenos when I was feeling queezy during pregnancy. The kind that come in a jar- not the fresh ones. they really helped me get through. My father also ate them when he had nausea from Chemo. Good luck!
Fresh air helped me with both of my pregnancies. Especially driving with the window down with the wind in my face. Good luck and congratulations!!!
Hi! I am 7 weeks pregnant and having my 3rd child also. My Dr. told me to take 1/2 of a Unisom and vitamin B6. I did this with my last pregnancy and it helped alot.
Have you tried eating crackers before you get out of bed in the morning? or eat unsalted crackers? Sometimes a glass of warm milk helps.
Hi A., A little bit about me...my name is A. and I'm an EMT & a Massage Therapist as well as the proud parent of 4. Twin boys-22, middle boy-17 and daughter-16. I'm 43 and hope the advice I give helps you out... it's worked every time for me.
First... do you like chocolate milk? If so, try SIPPING a glass until it's gone. Take your time. Or you can NIBBLE on a chocolate bar as well. Also try pretzel sticks instead of the crackers. Forget the ginger ale and try 7-up.
If nothing seems to work, the only other thing I can suggest is ask your Dr. about giving you some Promethazine. It's for nausea and I don't believe it will hurt the baby inside.
Good Luck
I'm currently in my 3rd trimester and had horrid nausea the first trimester - sucking on peppermints worked great for me! Best of luck and Congrats!
K.
I ate pickeled ginger root when I was pregnant. You wold purchase it in the refrigirator section of a Japanese store. Or you can make your own, receip is below. I hope this helps you out like it did for me.
INGREDIENTS:
2 lb fresh ginger root
3 cups vinegar
2 cups sugar
2 tsps salt
PREPARATION:
Wash fresh ginger root and rub off skin. Slice the ginger thinly and salt them. Leave salted ginger slices in a bowl for one hour. Dry the ginger slices with paper towels and put them in a sterilized container/jar.
Mix rice vinegar and sugar in a pan and bring to a boil. Pour the hot mixture of vinegar and sugar over the ginger slices. Cool them. The ginger change its color to light pink. Cover the jar and store it in the refrigerator.
*Makes about 2 cups
Keep food in your tummy, to keep your blood sugar up. Try things high in protien, PB&J's are the best. Make one before you go to bed so you don't have to wait so long to make it in the morning.
Hi A.,
Sorry to hear your all-day sickness! I had it the 2nd time around (a few months ago) but not with my first. It's horrible!!
I carried around mints with me - they seemed to help. I still have a bag of starlight mints in the car, just in case. I also tried to eat regularly, even though nothing sounded appealing. I ate a lot of pb&js and bowls of cheerios those two months!
Anyway, good luck!
M. S
My Dr. had me take a vitamin B6 and 1/2 of a Unisom before bed time and you don't wake up as sick. I pretty much had to eat a little something all day long, but still vomited a lot. I found Izzy drinks really helped, so did fruit snacks and cookies. They also have prego pops (suckers) at the maternity stores that help.

Have you tried eating the saltines before you get up in the morning?
A., find a good accupuncturist - a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I had two bouts of nausea in my early pregnancy (I'm 7 months along now) and both times I was feeling better (and hungry!) by the time the treatment was done (30 minutes). I owe much to my Dr of TCM - he was the one responsible for helping me get my body back in harmony - I'm 36 and pregnant for the first time...I was told many times it was not possible. Please try it. There's nothing to fear about it.
Hi A.,
I was sick all nine months with my first and so far only child and my massage therapist suggested that I try peppermint oil behind my ears on the bone back there. I work in a hospital and I couldnt very well go running out of a patients room to go throw up and so I tried it and it worked wonders for me!! Also the pressure point wrist bands worked for me on occasion, people use them for sea sickness etc. Just a couple of suggestions for you hope one works. Good Luck & Congrats!! Oh also peppermint lip gloss and peppermint tea!!
I know this sounds crazy but try candy or soda with citric acid. When I was pregnant with number three my saving grace was sour patch watermelon slices and lemonade. Just give it a try, it might work.
I feel for you! I had nausea and vomiting with all 4 of my pregnancies. While I did have it thoughout much of the prenancy, I did find ways to improve it enough that I could function!
For me, the nausea seemed to be mostly associated with a drop in blood sugar. So I ate small, frequent meals, & never ate a carbohydrate without also eating a protein. I also had to avoid all high-sugar foods, as I felt sicker than ever after eating those. The best thing for me to do was go ahead & throw up each morning. Then I had about a 20 minute window without nausea. So I would eat a small breakfast during that time, then eat again every 1-2 hours thoughout the morning, & every 2-3 hours during the afternoon & evening. Whenever I started to feel the nausea coming on, I would quickly eat something, even if it was just a few nuts. Plus, I always ate a good snack before bed, like a turkey sandwich for example. You might be thinking that this sounds like way too much food, but I actually gained just 30 pounds with my third (which was gone in a week) & 25 pounds with my 4th (which was gone before I left the hospital). The key is only eating a small amount, but often, & not just saltines! They have very little protein in them. A better choice might be graham crackers with milk (more protein). I crave fruit when I'm pregnant, but they are quite sweet, so I'd eat a banana or apple with peanut butter on it. Or a piece of meat with an orange. Some old nurses that I worked with also said that 7-UP or Pepsi can settle a stomach, but I wouldn't drink much of these as again, they are too sugary. I hope that is of some help to you!
Dear A.; Sorry you are feeling so sick, if you can tolerate fresh ginger grated with some pineapple and I have hear jelly beans of al things have been recommended by doctors!

A., I was the same way. I found out that if I didn't eat enough times in the day I would get very sick feeling. I just had to munch on food all day long give it a try. Look for somewhat healthy foods so it doesn't make the weight gain worse. Good luck.
Try a ginger-camomile tea. It's what I used and it worked. Ask your dr about certain food. bananas are a good one for nausea.
I am also pregnant with my 2nd baby. I have cramps and nausea. I am going to try the jolly ranchers and ginger snaps cookies they mentioned. However, I really don't get the B6 vitamin idea because my prenatal pills and other pills (like tyenol) made me throw up every time and now I got chewables and they work better. I can hold down my thyroid, but only because I was told I had to. If you like tea drink decaf because I heard too much caffeine is bad for baby and cause miscarriages possibly. I find drinking 7up and gingerale with my meals works well. Eating frequent small meals I do that alot. I now throw up once a day as long as I eat frequent small meals, and if something makes me nausea that I eat then I stop eating and let it digest and eat something else later. I try to eat more light meals. Usually heavy meals cause me to feel nausea. I definitely feel for you I had nausea with my son for about 6 or 7 months, and with this one it's getting better, but still hard sometimes. Cramps are even worse I never had them before. It took me 8 years to get pregnant again. I was told it might be the stretching ligaments that causes cramps, but some days I have none all. So, I think it happens when baby is growing and stretching my uterus. Anyone have advice on cramping and mini contractions? I try to wait them out and do the inhaling and exhaling. I told my doctor, but they don't seem to understand how much the hurt. I hate hold Tylenol, so why bother with it. If anyone want to talk more my email is ____@____.com

Have you tried starlight mints? It was the only solution I had with my second child. I'd start out my day with one and used them to reduce the nausea throughout the day. Just a thought. Congratulations on the newest addition to your family.

I read all the responses and was pleasantly surprised that one doctor had recommended Dramamine (sea sick pills) 50 years ago I took them and they really helped.
Also, if you can stand the taste, raw ginger root will stop nausea in its track. It doesn't take too much, but you peal the skin off and cut into little pieces and eat them. Try it first thing in the morning before you get up and then during the day when you first start to feel yucky.
See below where I added more about the ginger root. It has to be the fresh kind not the dried type that comes in capsules.
One thing that can make it worse is being tired. Try to get more sleep. If possible, get the kids in bed by 7:30 and you go to bed too. If you can get 9 hours sleep, you will feel much better,

about ginger root:
Here is some info from the University of Maryland Medical Center: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsHerbs/Gingerch.html#Precaut... : Pregnancy Related Nausea and Vomiting
At least two studies have found that ginger is more effective than placebo in relieving nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy. In a small study including 30 pregnant women with severe vomiting, those who ingested 1 gram of ginger every day for four days reported more relief from vomiting than those who received placebo. In a larger study including 70 pregnant women with nausea and vomiting, those who received a similar dosage of ginger felt less nauseous and experienced fewer vomiting episodes than those who received placebo. (Note: fresh ginger root is safe to use during pregnancy, but dried ginger root is not. See Precautions. The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) gives fresh ginger root a class 1 safety rating, indicating that it is a safe herb with a wide dosage range. Side effects associated with ginger are rare, but if taken in excessive doses the herb may cause mild heartburn. The AHPA gives dried ginger root a class 2b rating, indicating that it should not be used during pregnancy. )
Before you even get out of bed in the morning (or do first -- like before you visit the bathroom, etc.) eat soemthing high in protein! Like a peanut butter sandwich or tuna fish.
Worked for me.
Hi. Congratulations! I am also 7 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child so I feel your pain. With my first child it did not matter what I did, I always felt sick. It got to the point where I would drink a glass of water in bed just so I could throw it up instead of dry-heaving. Smells would set off my nausea more than anything, so I tried to stay away from what I knew bothered me. With my second one, it was so bad that I had to be put on Zofran. I could not hold down anything. With this one, I have not felt as nauseous, knock on wood. When I do start feeling icky, I try to have a higher protein snack. Yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, Carnation instant breakfast, chicken soup, etc. I don't know what it is but the protein seems to calm the nausea down. If you are so sick that you can't stand the thought of eating any of these things, (I say that because that is how I was with my second one), then you may want to see about getting some Zofran. Get the desolve tabs so you don't have to try to swallow a pill. Hope this helps. I am hoping that my morning sickness will stay at this level, but considering my past pregnancies I am just counting down the time until it really hits. :) Good luck and God bless. R.
The book What to Expect When You Are Expecting may have some answers for you. I believe it told me to take vitamin B6 and make sure you're eating enough protein (meat & cheese). You need twice as much when you are pregnant than you usually need.
I found that always keeping something in my stomach helped tremendously. I had a craving for potatoes, so I ate a lot of those, but always in small amounts - fries, baked, mashed (no butter or anything else, always plain). I also found lemonade, chicken and yogurt helped. I think if you have a craving for any food, eat it, but only a small amount - just to take the edge off the nausea. Too much and you'll be sick again and then that food will just be one more thing you can't eat!
Hopefull the nausea will pass quickly! Congrats on the new baby!
I was really sick with my second child, and here are a few things that seemed to help me. First, apples, apples, and more apples. If I ate an apple in the morning and before I went to bed, it really helped. Also, watermelon to snack on during the day. The great thing about the watermelon is that it is good for you, satisfies a sweet tooth, and keeps you hydrated. I also lived on nuts, if you are no tallegic, and whole wheat bagels. I sucked on hard candy alot, peppermint and fruit flavored. It seemed if I let my mouth get dry, I would start gagging. I also drank hot, almost boiling water, with a bit of honey or sugar in it. I hope that this helps.
My doctor's nurse gave me a little trick. Suck on sour candy...such as jolly ranchers. Something about the constant saliva or something keeps the nausea away. i didn't throw up once.
I threw up EVERY DAY for the first 4 months with my first baby. With my second, a friend told me about this concoction: 1/2 a tablet of Unisom 25mg & a B-6 100mg vitamin. I okayed it with my Doctor, who said they used to make a pill of the two ingredients, but it wasn't beneficial enough to keep selling it. I beg to differ. I won't say I didn't feel sick ever again, there were still weak times, but I only lost my stomach twice in 9 months. If you take it before bed, it will also help you sleep (Unisom).
Eat food high in protein. Ex, eggs, carnation instant breakfast, kashi granola bars, cottage cheese, etc. The protein takes longer to digest and it keeps you from feeling hungry and sick.
A., This will sound crazy and I did it when I was pregnant with my first which was 24 years ago. I had tried everything and didn't really want to take medication from a Dr. Someone suggested that I obtain the syrup that they make coke or pepsi from. Now that is impossible. The closest I could come was A&W rootbeer. As there were still local family owned chains which recieved the syrup. I got a bit of it and would sip it in the mornings or whenever i felt sick and then eat a cracker. I can't believe how well it worked! I was so sick that I was losing weight and the Dr. was very concerned. This did the trick but like I said I am not sure where you would get the syrup. It doesn't take much.
try unison and vitamin b6, i used that for my third pregnancy and it helped alot. good luck.

Are you drinking enough water or fluids? My doctor told me that sometimes the body can interpret thirst as hunger. If that's the case, I'm thinking maybe if your body thinks it's hungry and you aren't eating, that could be a source. My other suggestion is ginger chews; They are about the size of a tootsie roll but have the consistency of taffy. You can suck/chew on them straight up or dissolve them in hot water to drink like a tea. I got mine at Target. They worked really well for me.
Hi A.,
I see that you have a lot of responses and I didn't read through all of them. I was hospitalized 2x w/ my first pregnancy b/c of the vomiting so I feel as though I am a pro. As w/ anything check w/ your OB....but I was on unisom and b6 vitamin , one each every night and I felt great the next day! Hope this helps!
If you can find gingerbread chapstick that used to help me becasue you could smell the ginger all the time. Also just a bag of ginger bread cookies and smell the bag... I don't know why this helped but it did, I never ate the cookies just smelled them...
I also have friends that needed to eat something before they even got up out of bed... a couple crackers, a drink of milk... something in their tummy before they stood up seemed to help. Good luck and congradulations!!!
I tried all those things also chicken noodle soup or just plain chicken broth sometimes helped me. Give that a try.
I was sick my first trimester as well . I feel for you : ) Try going to an herbal store and buying REd Rasberry leaf then you can boil it and make a tea that is safe to drink it helps. Good Luck
I echo the suggestions of Sea Bands. You can get them at Wal-Mart. They are a stretchy wrist band with a plastic knob on it that presses on a pressure point on the inside of your wrist. It is a wonderful thing! I had severe morning sickness that lasted for 7 months and these helped. It did NOT take it away but I was able to sit up and play with my then 3 year old.Red Raspberry leaf tea is also very good for morning sickness but I couldn't stand the sight of it:)
You have very good suggestions from all the others also!
Just a note about Zofran....it is not approved by the FDA for pregnant moms. It is a stomach ulcer med and can cause birth defects.
I hope this passes quickly for you. It is especially hard when you have other little ones to care for!
***edit!!!! It came to me in the shower, of all places, that I gave inaccurate info on Zofran. It is NOT an ulcer med! It is for chemo patients! Sorry! The rest of the info I posted on it is true. On a side note I would encourage everyone to buy a med manual- you can find them at Wal-mart. They are very handy dring preg/nursing so you can double check all the Doc. prescribes for you:)
i was really sick my 1st trimester (last year). Even though the last thing I wanted to do was eat, if I could get some crackers down it really helped. and then keep eating, small meals or snacks and protein-rich (vegan) snack before bed. Maintaining your blood sugar level is the best preventative measure. Make sure you are getting enough iron and B vitamins. I took sublingual B vitamins and it really helped (they also may give you a nice boost of energy). Pre-natal vitamins were too harsh on my system, but I could handle these.
Also, try smelling fresh lemon slices. odd, but it helped. when my husband was cooking, i would hide under the covers with a braid of sweet grass under my nose.
get lots of fresh air. and any of these teas: raspberry leaf, dried peach tree leaves, peppermint or spearmint, ginger.
I hope you feel better. Congratulations, be well, and take good care of yourself!!
blessings,
j
