I am looking for an organic or natural bugspray that can either be purchased or mixed myself. I priced Burts Bees brand at $12-14!! Anything cheaper out there? Thank you all so much for any suggestions! You have been so helpful in the past!

Here are a few whing that I know to work but not sure if you are really looking for these. Skin so soft by Avon mixed with water works really well and safe. If you are worried about misquitos then a bounce fabric sheet tied to a belt loope or in a pocket really keeps them away. If you are in your yard they say if you mix listeren mouth wash and water and spray it around your yard that works too (I'm trying that one this weekend). Hope that helps!!!
What are you wanting to use it for? Personal or home protection?
I use Cactus juice for myself and my 4 year old. They also offer a bug repellent with sunscreen. It is natural (made with prickly pear cactus), non-toxic and not that expensive. I bought it from my local scuba shop even though it's not listed on the retailer site. Here is the link about Cactus juice: http://www.cactusjuicetm.com/
Just go into your local healthfood store and look around. I have seen several brands that cost less.
Bugs are not as troublesome if you put many natural things into your body. We have only been bitten a few times and my boys turn 7 soon.
Hi,
I have found Herbal Armor to be hugely effective. My brother took it back-woods camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (where the mosquitoes are hungry and as big as helicopters). He said the Herbal Armor worked better than Deep Woods OFF and repellent with DEET. I bought the lotion, and it was fairly expensive, but it has lasted a long time. I'm sure the spray wouldn't last as long, since you'd spray it everywhere and the lotion just needs to go on exposed skin.

i mixed a few essential oils with hand sanitizer and it works for us. eucalyptus and peppermint. lavender works too, but doesn't blend very well with those two-- i would do one or the other. about 10 drops of each in a little travel size hand sanitizer bottle.
it might be a bit pricey to buy the oils-- they range from $4-10 per bottle, but they are very useful. lavender is great for burns and cuts and anti-bacterial, peppermint is great for tummy aches, and eucalyptus is a must-have with a cold, works to clear the sinuses and congestion. so if you buy them you'll get a lot more than bug spray out of them.
I buy the Burts Bees insect repellent online. It's only $5 at www.vitacost.com. In fact, they have a very large selection of burt's bees products for a lot cheaper than the stores sell them. Hope this helps.
