Natural Immune Boosters for Young Kids

Looking for tried and true recommendations for natural immune boosters as the cold season is upon us. I have an infant and a preschooler who have already had at least one cold this fall. We wash hands frequently, eat well, take vitamins (including extra C) and drink elderberry extract. Any other suggestions to prevent illnesses during the long winter ahead?

What can I do next?

I like a vitamin made for kids, it's an amazing antioxidant called OPC-3 - and the company that makes it just came out with one geared towards kids. It has a kid-tested and approved berry flavor. It is a powder that you dissolve n water and drink. It's isotonic so it gets absorbed very quickly. You can find a distributor or buy it by visiting www.marketamerica.com

This has become my mission as a mom because I hate cold season. Unfortunately there really hasn't been much. I have a daily routine for my 3 (6, 5, & 2) which includes a full glass of o.j., a multi, vitamin C with echinacea, and acidopholous.

I also highly recommend having their immunizations up to date including a flu shot.

In the meantime, stock up on tissues, saline, nose syringes, humidifiers (& replacement filters), vick's vapor rub, vick's plug ins, and patience for the inevitable.

I heard that honey made from bees in your area prevents allergies which sometimes leads to ear infections from buildup of phlem in the sinuses. You can try this for the 2 yr old (check with the pedi first) but don't give the infant honey. Make sure you blow noses whenever there is a stuffy nose. Other than that I am not really sure. There is a website for really good vitamins and immune boosters http://www.marketamerica.com/claudinep/. Hope that helps and you have healthy children (and parents) during the cold season.

I have tried echinacea, vitamin C honey etc. I found really the best thing is WASHING HANDS. I make my children sing Happy Birthday while doing it.
