Have you looked at VBRO.com? There are many locations to consider. Also, Gables Inn, Napa, is around $200 per night.
Has anyone been to Napa? If so, do you have any reasonable recommendations for a hotel or bed and breakfast. My husband and I plan to go in September for our 10th anniversary. Every place I have found has been over $300/night and I really just do not want to spend that much...but I don't want to stay at an economy motel either. Any suggestions would be great!

Hi R.,
Napa is fantastic! I lived in the bay area for many years before moving to TX 3 years ago. Napa has become a famous destination and therefore the prices of lodging and properties have gone way up. I can tell you that unless you go in winter, any good B&B will cost at least 250.00 per night. If you want to feel the charm of Napa I suggest staying in a B&B. Hotels arent as nice and the ones that are are way above the 300.00 dollar mark. The river terrace inn is a hotel that is nice and less expensive than the others. The best B&B's in my opinion are 1801 first and The inn on first. You can google all three of them. In any case if you like wine, vineyards and the romance and charm that go with it you will have a great time there!
VRBO.com is a great way to go and I would highly suggest the Sonoma area over Napa. While they are not that far apart and you can do wineries in both areas, Sonoma has yet to become anywhere near as commercialized as Napa is. My husband and I went there about 3 years ago and spent a week in Sonoma and the surrounding wine country and absolutely fell in love with it. Sonoma has a beautiful little town square with a park and courthouse in the middle of it and there are a ton of little wineries around the area that are off the beaten path and you would never find their bottles in a store. Have fun and enjoy, it is one of the best trips I have ever been on.
If you are going to be renting a car you might want to look at some of the surrounding areas. You might be able to find a cheaper hotel if you are willing to drive about 30 minutes to Napa. Most of the areas still have the same atmosphere but aren't as well known so don't cost quite as much.
If you want to just spend a day in Napa coming and going and are interested in Redwoods, there are two nice B&Bs in Eureka (about 4 1/2 hours north of Napa)that are very affordable.
The Cornelias Daly Inn and The Iris House you can find on line at www.dalyinn.com and their rooms really nicely decorated and the breakfasts are delicious.
Napa is lovely and if you just want to stay put and not see more scenery that's understandable.
