Looking for Winery / B&B Suggestions in VA

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary & trying to find a great weekend to "rekindle" the flame. We love wine and would like to do some wineries and stay in a bed & breakfast type of place, preferably in the northern VA area (Loudon or Fauquier Co.). I can't seem to find many wineries that have an inn right on their property (the less driving, the better!) And ideally it wouldn't be too pricey or too "foo-foo". A hearty country breakfast and comfly place to sleep is all we need! Open to all suggestions!! Thanks :)

NOVA has awesome wineries!! and B&Bs, too!

Barrel Oak Winery, Three Fox, Delaplane Cellars, Miracle Valley, Linden, and Philip Carter are all within a 7 - 10 mile radius - most of them are really close together. The wine tasting fees are minimal, too. The wines are terrific!! You can stay at The Ashby Inn if you want a wonderful romantic experience... it's a bit pricey, but worth every last penny. The food there is phenomenal!!!

I would suggest going towards SW Virginia instead. I used to live in VA and have toured the Richmond area wineries, all of the NOVA ones and also the Roanoke/Floyd areas. My favorites are in SW Virginia. The best restaurant / winery by far is Chateau Morrisette - food is awesome. The location is super romantic, the wine is great! The website is www.thedogs.com. I would suggest something like this package:

Other wineries in the area to visit that are really nice are: Villa Apalachia and Valhalla. You can get more info here: http://www.blueridgewinetrail.com/march12map.html

I spent over 7 years exploring the wineries of Virginia while living in Blacksburg and then Alexandria - would be happy to answer any questions as I've been to most of them. Have a great time! C.

Williamsburg Winery makes great wine. If you do want to do Northern Virginia, some Limo companies in Loudoun County do Winery tasting where they drive you to mulitple wineries. I stayed as Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg and it was beautiful. It's not a B&B, but I loved it and they have partners with some wineries and Reston Limos so you maybe able to get a deal.

I agree with the others, SW VA is much better than wineries in the NOVA area. I've been to Valhalla, it's a beautiful view, and Chateau Morisette is wonderful. We went to a wine festival there last year..it was kind of like being on a movie set. I really wanted to take a tour, but we didn't have the time. We were too busy drinking wine and listening to the blues guitarist while eating crepes on the terrace. :)

If you're not overly wedded to NOVA, I would strongly suggest the Williamsburg Winery and staying at one of the many B&B's there (or even the Williamsburg Inn). You can pretty much walk everywhere you would want to go!
