I need some advise. I have a 9 month old that is appearing to protest sleeping. He has always been a great sleeper but just recently he decided to not take his morning nap. the first day he fussed on/off for an hour. I was checking on him every 15 mins and then just gave up after an hour. the next day he talked in his crib for 30-45 mins and then fell asleep for an hour. he usually takes a 2 hour nap in the morning. the remainder of the day he is crabby and exhausted. i am finding he is waking up crying at night now b/c he is over tired from not napping well. not sure what to do?

What can I do next?

My son went through something similar. (He is now 10.5 months old) He was never a really great sleeper to begin with but last month he was having nothing to do with sleep...up at least once a night and up for good around 5:45 am YIPES....but, now all of a sudden he is a great sleeper! Who knows....I wonder if it has something to do with a growth spurt? Teething? Or just a phase...
Good luck and I am sure it will be something else next month. :)

I have a 9 moth old I babysit for, he has a hard time sometimes falling asleep. So I have a oceans sound radio that plays water wave sounds it seems to relax him and he falls asleep. Have you tires quiet time before his nap like a story and maybe rock for just a few minutes then lay him down. It may help him realize it is nap time. Or with my son we would give him chamomile tea no sugar nice and warm and that seemed to work with him.Hopefully it will pass a crabby baby makes for a very long day!
Good Luck to you

J.-
I don't have any advice, but I have a 9 month old boy who is doing something similar. He used to take a 2-3 hour nap in the morning and one shorter nap in the afternoon. He is protesting both, as well as nighttime. It takes forever to get him down. If you hear any good advice, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks,
Missy

It is a faze, all my boys went through it. It will pass. I know it's exhausting. But it will pass. My 2nd little guy never napped for me and I mean never, but he would for everyone else. My third takes a nap everyday. Sometimes I think he waits for his dad to come home. He will be so crabby and tired and as soon as My Husband gets home and takes him he falls asleep.

My son went through the same thing. We tried many things and the only thing that worked for him was to set up his pack-n-play in our room and then he would nap just fine. We did this for about 6 weeks and then he went back to his crib and napped normally with no problem.
Good Luck!
