My Toddler Won't Sleep in Her Bed!

My husband and I just transferred our 20-month-old to a toddler bed about 6 weeks ago. the bed uses the same crib mattress that she had been sleeping on since she was born, but she insists on sleeping on the floor instead of in her bed. It doesn't seem to matter how many times we go in and put her in the bed, she always ends up on the floor. This is also true for her afternoon nap. I am out of ideas on how to get her to sleep in her bed.

What can I do next?

My twins do this too. They are 2 and 1/2 but have been sleeping in the toddler beds/floor since about 20 months when the started climbing out of the crib and I was afraid they would get hurt.
I don't have any advice, I have tried several things none of which worked including letting them sleep on mattress on the floor and getting up several times to put them back in bed when I know they have gotten up.

maybe she doesnt feel safe in the toddler bed. The high rails of the crib may make her feel safer & more secxure from fallin. Im assuming the todler bed has rails on the sides to keep her from falling out... or is she getting out. Maybe she just isnt quit ready for the big bed. If going back to the crib is not an option put her mattress on the floor & see if she will sleep on it like that.

I suppose you have already tried bribery? ;) Does the toddler bed have rails on the sides? She may be a little worried about falling out of bed and the floor is more comforting. If you don't have rails you may want to try that.

My son wouldn't sleep on his bed when me moved him: he was 18 months old. I just let him sleep on the floor! It didn't last long, he is 4 now and sleeps just fine on his bed.

My son did the same thing..I think it was a security issue. What I did was place pillows along the side of the bed (side farthest from the wall). Something else I did at first, because he would end up pushing the pillows off in his sleep, was take a flat sheet and tuck it under the mattress and fold it over the pillows and across the bed. He would sleep on top of the flat sheet. This worked and we did it for a couple of months untitl he was secure enough. Then I just didn't pu them back after a sheet change and never said anything. He didnt ask or seem to care and has been sleeping sound ever since.

What if you just put the mattress on the floor? My daughter hits the rails and/or the headboard with her arms sometimes when she rolls over in her toddler bed. Maybe she does the same and doesn't like it. Personally, I don't see a problem with sleeping on the floor. (as long as she's sleeping!) But, I'd try putting the mattress on the floor.
