My daughter did this yesterday. She was focused on what was on the other side of the glass door and not the door itself.
My 3 year old son, excited from his haircut at the mall, ran gleefully towards the outside and ran straight into a glass wall. Like one of those birds in the commercial. :( he was more stunned than hurt but I'm just wondering how normal this is? it's not like the glass was THAT clear. Do you think i should be worried about his vision? is this normal for preschoolers to do? Thanks!

i think normal, but i'd watch him for signs of a concussion.
I think normal. If you recall... the teen star Justin Bieber has done it more than once and it is all on video.
Sometimes someone gets wrapped up into what they are thinking and what move is next and just walks into the glass wall (or is too busy texting and walks into a fountain).
I wouldn't think much about it.
I've run into a few sliding glass doors in my time. I wouldnt get too alarmed unless you really see some other indicators.
I think his vision is probably ok. I once walked through my uncle's screen door, and I had 20/20 vision.
LOL. My cousin's six year old just ran into the closed sliding glass door on Saturday. It was hilarious! He was fine. Just absent-minded.
at 3? NOTHING to worry about. poor kiddo lol. lucky he didn't get hurt. maybe he'll remember next time...
There was a story last year about how an Apple store in NYC had to change their front door because people kept walking into it and a few tried to sue. This thing had logos on it and everything.
Taking that into consideration I would say it is normal.
LOL I am one that has walked into the glass wall of apple several times. Express too
.
I worked in a chiropractor's office that had all glass doors. It was the most hilarious place to work! People ran into those suckers all the time. I can't tell you how hard it is to check insurance and do billing, when you're laughing your butt off!
Yes, I think it's normal. However, he is due for his first vision check. (I was always told, and have always read to get vision checked at 3.)
No. my son runs into things all the time. Just too busy to actually look and notice that it is glass and not an open space. Just this past weekend my 4 year old ran into the glass sliding door of my mom's place and later, just the screen :)
I've done it before and so has my daughter. I think it's normal when you're excited.
Only if he's doing stuff like that at home. Keep watching him and if you see any other signs, take him to a pediatric opthomologist. They know exactly how to work with kids. It takes a while to get an appointment, just so you know.

I did this a couple of months ago. I'm a full-grown woman. It hurt like a swear word I probably shouldn't say.
