All of those things are perfectly normal and sweet. Just go in his room after he's asleep and move the blanket if he has put it over his face because it can cause SIDS from the carbon monoxide.

He's not being weird, he's being normal. At this point in time, your little one is making connections with his senses. Up until now, he hasn't really comprehended he can "see", "make noises" and "feel" things. He's putting 2 & 2 together that you're his mommy and wants to be sure you're still there to protect him...and the blanket is most likely a security issue as well. Congratulations!

Like everyone else said its a sensory thing. Both my kids like the ribbing of their blankies on their face and they love having pacifiers in their hand. He is just loving you! Not weird at all.

That's not weird, that is your son loving you! It is so sweet...my son started this around 5 months and still does it, at three, when he is falling asleep. When he scratches, I gently hold his hand and say "shhh" to calm him down a little.

It's your little boy's way of telling you he loves you. Don't be surprised if at times he gazes into your eyes for a long time, with his hand on your cheek, almost as if to say "if I could TELL you in words that I love you, I would!"

My son also puts his blankie in his face, and now, when he sees me resting, he will try to put his blankie in MY face. It's cute. I gently push it out of the way so he can breathe comfortably. It's normal, so aside from that I don't do much more.

He sounds like a sweet and loving little boy who knows how much he needs his mama. My suggestion is to keep on lovin' him just the way he is. He's perfect.

OH, but uncover his face so he doesn't suffocate. Small babies aren't supposed to use blankets because of the suffocation risk, they say. I'm not such a stickler for that stuff, but I'd uncover the face for the next few months.
