I have a 3 yr old girl with a head of hair like you wouldn't believe. I find the Loreal kids shampoo is the best bet. It's tear free and a 2 in 1. Leaves her hair clean and soft and shiny. Hope this helps !
I have an almost two year old daughter and I still use baby wash to wash her hair. I was wondering when is a good age to start using shampoo and conditioner in her hair because I think the baby wash is drying her hair out.
I purchased the Suave for kids 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and I used it for the first time last night. I immediately noticed the difference. Her hair was so much more manageable and soft after I washed it. Thaks to everyone for your great advice!

You can "upgrade" to a childrens shampoo. I would recommend staying in the tear free realm for the moment. I switched out with my daughter and was using real shampoo, then I got it in her eye last night. OOooh, that was bad. I know that there is some toddler/kid shamoo and conditioner out there that is tear free, so I would suggest going with that!
Why not today! Just dont get it in her eyes .
my lil girl is almost 2. Since she was about 10 months old i have been using my conditioner on her hair but only on the ends. I stil use the baby shampoo also, I think the key is conditioner. Just make sure it doesn't get in her eyes.
I started using suave for kids on my son's hair when he was about two and a half. It works great and smells great too!! I even use it in my hair, I have coarse hair and the detangler works great in mine and keeps my hair shiny and manageable. They have shampoo and conditioner combos, and also conditioner. I hope this helps!!!
Check out the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep database of cosmetic products. Find out what toxins may be in the products you choose. Children shouldn't be bombarded with toxins/pthalates. I was surprised (sometimes happily, most often not) when I looked up some of my choices.
Click on 'haircare' at the top of the web page then search through the shampoos for your brand.

Honestly, I never thought about pesticides and toxins before my daughter was diagnosed with severe food allergies. I think that all of the garbage I've put in my body over the years must somehow be connected to the epidemic of food allergies in kids. (Not to mention autism, adhd etc also.)
Just something to think about. Kind regards, A.
p.s. not to be a pain but the L'Oreal Kids shampoo got a horrible rating - 9 out of 10 for toxins.

Well I started using my shampoo & conditioner on my son when he was around your daughter’s age. It should be no problem unless she has sensitive skin~ just be careful what you use. I suggest Pantene sleek & shine that’s what I use for me & my son. I tried all the baby stuff they have out there and I really don't care for them. What I use isn't tear free but just watch what your doing and you won’t have to worry about it getting in her eyes.
try skipping a day between washings
Many people OVER wash hair. Unless she is rolling in dirt every day, shampoo every 2-3 days or even less frequently is fine (until puberty). Over shampooing can strip the natural oils and cuticle from the hair. I only shampoo my daughter's long, fine hair every 5 days or so, and use a couple of drops of conditioner with water in a spray bottle to deal with tangle. Economical, and it works!
Hello,
My daughter is almost 3 yrs. old and I use the L'oreal Kids "No Tears" conditioning shampoo. I also use my own conditioner on her, but only from the base of her neck down (Like your making a pony tail), this way it won't get in her eyes! I find this really helps because she has long hair, along with using a Detangling spray!
Best Wishes & God Bless You! I was a single mom for a long time and I know how hard it can be.

I had the same experience with my daughter around this age. I looked around for kid's shampoo but I could not find kid's conditioner. So I changed her to Suave shampoo and conditioner. I bought it from the discount store on the premise that it would not be adult strength. So far there have been no negative reactions. The conditioner is really helping the dryness of her hair. I should also add that I only wash her hair once a week, so if you wash your daughter's hair more often you may have a different experience.
In answer to your question as to when is a good age to start using shampoo - with my daughter I have been working by the rule of thumb that if something isn't working, try another way. So if the hair wash you are using now is not as effective as it used to be, try another product.
My son is still young, but has a full of head of hair! I stopped using the shampoo & body wash combo.. his hair was "squeaky clean" which i thought was drying it out. SO I started using J&J Soft Wash baby shampoo. Says on bottle "with gentle conditioners and silk proteins". It's easier to rinse out than a seperate conditioner but does leave his hair soft and smelling great! Think about it, we don;t use our body wash as shampoo, why should our kids? Hope this helps!
Hi, my kids are 20 months and 3 yrs old I stopped using baby shampoo about a year ago. It was drying out their air too. I use suave kids, it is shampoo and conditioner in one. I hope this helps.
Switch to one of the kids type shampoo/conditioner combo bottles they are still tear free. Adult shampoo & conditioner will really burn if it gets in her eyes. We use Suave Detangle (I have a 4yo & 10yo) they both like it and it comes in a variety of scents, I just picked up a Coconut one.
Hi O., My daughter is 2 1/2 and I've been using Loreal kids shampoo on her for a while now. It is a 2 in one with conditioner in it and it comes in all kinds of awesome smells and for different hair types. It is no more tears just like the baby wash. Sometimes we also use Johnson's detangler spray on dry hair for bed head and stuff.
honey, johnson & johnson make a shampoo and conditioner in one. it's long over due for you to stop with the baby wash...try it.
O.
I started using shampoo when my daughter was 18 months. Loreal has a great shampoo for kids. The I use Johnsons spray conditionor/detangle. These work well and will not dry out her hair. Good Luck
Suave baby shampoo works really well. It's made for babies, so it won't hurt her eyes
They make shampoo and conditioner for kids now. Baby shampoo should not dry out her hair though. You can try to use a different kind of baby shampoo or you can try like suave for kids. I think they make kids shampoo.
