My child, who is now two-year and 11month old, is a bed lover. He is in the preschool now. Since it is in winter, I don’t wake him up early in the morning. But it seems he has got used to getting up late. And if I tell him to get up, he won’t listen to me. Now, I have to drive him to the preschool at 9:30.

What can I do next?

Your son is not yet three. You need to be the mom and to say, "It's time to get up." And then, if he doesn't, you need to pick him up and make him. If you don't, you are asking for major issues later. If preschool has a start time, then you need to be there for that.

If you need to wake him up to get him out the door, then do so.

I would suggest putting him to bed earlier if he needs that much sleep and he's missing "school". If you are driving him to preschool an hour after it starts, he's missing a huge bulk of the "morning meeting and calendar".

He's not an infant anymore, so the "let a sleeping baby lie" thing doesn't apply.

What time does he go to bed? At that age, my daughter was in bed between 7-8pm and was up no later than 630 to go to daycare. If she wasn't up when I was, I would turn on the hall light and get ready without trying to be quiet. In the event she was still asleep (which was rare), I would go into her room and softly say her name and sit with her while she woke up. My mother used to come in and wash our faces with warm wash clothes in the mornings to wake us up. Maybe bring him a glass of juice, hot chocolate or milk too.

what do you mean he won't listen to you? he's three!
i suggest you put yourself firmly in the momseat today. if he gets to run things at 3, he'll be a nightmare at 9.
