My Baby Is Really Wiggley!!!

I know that sounds silly...but sometimes she wiggles so much, I can hardly hold her. It happens a lot at night (sometimes while seemingly sleeping). She's 11 weeks old. She'll kick her legs and flail her arms and make squeaking noises and squirm. She often does this while nursing and can't keep the nipple in her mouth!
Is this completely normal?

What can I do next?

Hi, I have a 11 week old that does the same thing. She even wiggles so much that when we do tummy time it looks like she is trying to crawl. I have the same problem when we nurse, she likes to arch her back and look around. It takes us longer to nurse, so I try to feed her before she gets really hungary, that is when I notice it the most.

My baby does that too (4 mo). It just means she's excited and happy, great that it happens when she's eating! :-) Not sure why she is doing this at night - perhaps she's not truly hungry and just wants a visit from Mom at those times? (Is this also when you can't keep nipple in her mouth?) Also, if she's "seemingly sleeping" and not taking the nipple, I'd say she's just moving in her sleep and again isn't hungry. My gal has been sleeping thru' the night since about 2 mo. old, yours might be trying to do that too. Good luck and enjoy your newborn!

Hi S.,
One thing I can think of is what did YOU eat before your nursed last??? If you had anything like chocolate, tea, coffee, or any other food that maybe she's sensitive to that might cause her to be either stimulated by a caffiene OR she might be getting a tummy ache and that causes her to be wiggly. I remember I used to eat walnuts and that would cause my oldest son gas. Just a thought, not an expert, just a mom of 3.

Hi!
My baby's a kicker, so I kind of know what you're going through. Have you tried swaddling her up before you feed her to calm her down? Good luck!!
