Have you been to an allergist? My son had/has very bad eczema due to food and pet allergies. It is very difficult to control, but we manage it with occasional steroids (topical and oral) and by avoiding allergens the best we can.
She's had eczema since 3 months. We've tried everything any doctor instructs. Nothing has helped. I'm currently working with a chemist who is trying to formulate a product that is sensitive enough for her skin, but still able to deliver the right nutrients for healing. I WANT TO TALK TO MOMS who have been in my shoes. She scratches all night. I could list the things I've tried. It would take forever, however, I am willing and eager to know what has worked for you. I'll try anything.

My 3 year old son suffers, too. We took him to an allergist for a test b/c he also had a constant runny nose and runny bowels. They linked everything to a dairy allergy. We are 100% dairy free and I have seen a HUGE improvement in his skin and other symptoms. Good luck!
Yes, my two and a half year old has had the same problem. He would wake up crying because of his scratching. I took him to Dr. Randall Schulze, a chiropractor who also offers nutritional advice. He advised to give him fish oil. I was very, very skeptical. But I tried it. He still has dry skin, but he doesn't scratch till he bleeds and he doesn't wake up due to his scratching anymore. And beware that sometimes you'll get a bad batch of fish oil. "Bad" in that it has lost its potency or something in which case she'll go back to scratching. I noticed a dramatic improvement after only 3 or 4 days.
They have lemon and orange flavored fish oil if she won't take the regular stuff.
Hi K.,
My son has severe asthma and eczema and he is currently 18 years old. He has suffered with it most of his life. He use to scratch all night too. He would develop impetigo when he was little and it was a mess. He would be sent home from pre-school for it. I started shopping at a company called Melaleuca and the products have helped his condition immensensly. The Tea Tree Oil has been very soothing to his skin in the product line. Relieving him of the chemicals found in products over the counter has been amazing. If you would like to know more please do not hesitate to call me. I have witnessed it first hand myself and his skin is now beautiful. If he has a break out it is rare and we have a great product called Derma-Court to help relieve the swelling and pain. But the laundry products and the skin cream are what I truly believe helped him the most. Please give me a call because we spent thousands of dollars on medical treatments and pharmacy products before being introduced to Melaleuca. I hope this helps, K. ###-###-####.

A friend's son had excema so bad that his skin would crack and bleed. Someone suggested to her to try essential oils in his bath water. A few drops of Rosemary and Lavender oil in his bath in the evenings did the trick. After just a few weeks she was able to totally discontinue use of the perscription lotion that cost $50.00/tube. His only complaint was that he smelled like a GIRL! Your daughter shouldn't mind that! LOL...

The very best product out there to not only treat eczema, but get rid of it, is Renew Intensive Skin Therapy from Melaleuca.com. I had eczema on my face that wouldn't go away until I started using this product. It completely went away and has never come back. I know how frustrating eczema can be and Melaleuca has customers who use it on their little ones. One customer and friend of mine is using it right now for her premature baby who is still in the hospital in Louisiana. All the nurses are interested in this product because of the excellent condition my friend's baby's skin is in. It also doesn't contain any toxic ingredients that other lotions do that will harm your health or that of your kids.
I wouldn't use anything else. It is not greasy and contains Melaleuca Oil, which penetrates 7 layers deep into your skin to heal.
For more information on how you can discover Melaleuca's wonderful shopping experience, just contact me.

Allergy testing...My 2 year old is allergic to dust mites. Zyrtec, twice daily moisturizing, and protective pillowcases and mattress covers have helped.
I have had eczema since I was an infant. My parents used to bathe me in epsom salt. A beach trip would heal my wounds quickly.I am now in my thirties and only have problems on my legs. The key is not to let the break out occur. I use lotion constantly Keri is probably the best and use it alot. Eczema is dry itchy skin (I used to scratch in my sleep which would cause the open sores)The sores take a while to heal and itch like mad. As a child I would scratch because it would relieve the itch(you can't tell a child not to scratch)then the sores would get bigger and bigger.I found that the ointments work the best and you don't need a whole lot.Now that I am older I rarely have breakouts because I know the changes in my skin and can tell if an area needs ointment. Keep an eye out for rough and dry patches and take care of them before the skin is scratched and opened. The winters are the worst.
I am taking my daughter to Dr. Ma at Ma Accupuncture. Her eczema isn't as severe as your daughter's. However, my friend whose daughter had severe eczema took her to Dr. Ma an he was able to clear it using traditional chinese herbs. Good luck.

My son also had eczema since about 11 months. He was covered from head to toe. We had to give him internal steriods just to give him some relief. We tried all kinds of creams (medicated & natural). The only thing that cured him was his diet. We went to a nutritionist when he was 2 years old. We got off all wheat, dairy, and corn. He cleared up beautifully within 2-3 weeks. It was amazing. I basically kept him on this type of diet until he was school age. He now eats pretty much anything and has small bouts with it, mainly behind his knees and on elbows.
It's not too hard these days with all the choices now for wheat free diets. The nutritionist also put us on some herbs, but I know for a fact that diet is what cured him.
We put him on soy milk (which he still loves), had just turkey & cheese rolls with no bread. he made it through just fine. The nutritionist said that the eczema was a result of the food allergies acting like toxins in his body. His body could only process so much and then spills over and comes out in his skin.
Hope this helps. If you need anything else, just email.

My nephew has severe eczema also. My sister found the best solution for him by changing products in the home. It worked better than any medicine or cream prescribed by the Dr. He would scratch until he bled at times and he has some scarring due to that. She switched all household cleaners, laundry soaps, bath soaps and lotions and creams. The bath soap and lotion made the most dramatic diffeerence and if she ran out of one cleaner and used another until her order came in it would cause a flare-up. Her younger daughter has asthma and has been virtually attack free since converting her home. These products are less expensive than what is available at Wal-mart and toxin free. If you are interested e-mail me directly and I will be happy to call or e-mail you information from this wellness company. It is an awesome company that stands behind their products. In business for over 20 years. I hope this helps-email me @ ____@____.com

Hi there. I don't want to overload w/ you advice, but my friend has struggled w/ this in 2 of her kids also. She has found food allergies to be the problem (soy and nuts). If her daughter has any soy at all (even just soy lecithin as a last ingredient in some product) she'll break out again. It has been enormously difficult to cut out all soy and nuts (even things processed in a facility where they use nuts) but if she can stay on top of it the eczema is completely gone. She also rarely uses soap when bathing her and rubs olive oil into her skin as a moisturizer. A previous post suggested that tea tree oil is moisturizing but it is actually very astringent (drying) although it is very effective as an antifungal and antibacterial agent. Great for ringworm and yeasty diaper rashes. Good luck, I know your struggle is very frustrating. On an optimistic note, I think most kids grow out of it; my friend's daughter is much less sensitive to soy and nuts now, and it has only been 2 yrs or so. Let me know if you want the email of my friend; I'm sure she would be very willing to talk to you about her experience.
Thought I would just mention going to the source of her itching/reactions - have you experimented with food allergies (egg, wheat and corn, maybe milk products too) and tried a different laundry soap/softener on her clothese and bed sheets/towels, etc... This is what I have had to do with my son. Interestingly, I used to use Tide free and Wisk and then Downy/Downy free products. I switched to green products - 7th generation, method, etc... and the green stuff broke our skin out - took me forever to figure that out because you think organic is best --- well, not always. Went back to the originals and we are great now.
Also, my son has food allergies and we also think that he is allergic to grass or something outside as his feet have eczema. He also will be up nights itching - the laundry stuff and not giving him certain foods has stopped that thank God. But the feet issue - I am getting him some little sandals for the backyard, etc.. and we'll hope that works.
Also good to consider are her bath products - there are many good allergy-free ones - I love Bert's Bees - the shampoo and wash for babies is so great and smells so good - like honey!
Another idea is to look into alternative health methods - even chiropractic care; if her body is out of alignment, this can cause sensitivities/alleric reactions - we also found this out and it helped. And, you can try homeopathic products - I would call People's Pharmacy and talk to them - you said you have someone helping you but the People's Pharmacy out in the West Lake area has many people that are really wise on babies and kids - their number is ###-###-#### - there are many women there you can talk to. We have not found the homeopathic stuff very successful with our little one but I know many people that sear by that kind of help - worth looking into or just talking with one of these ladies - they are very kind and helpful.
Good luck - I feel for you and your little one -

Okay, I read the posts and I haven't seen any moms post our routine. I live in Houston and I took my son ( 5 months today!) to a dermatologist at Texas Childrens. He didn't have a classic case of eczema- he had serpia (spelling? it is what they call cradle cap of the body they treat it like eczema though)My son was pawing at his face and scratching himself at night and he looked like he had been attacked by a cat. He now has beautiful skin and is super happy! We were told to get vasaline and take some out and put in 2-3 tablespoons of mineral oil in and mix it up. We apply it on him every night. It is very greasy . We bathe him (in the morning) in cetaphil b/c any soap that suds up takes the oils out of the skin and that is just what they need! The doctor also said the non fragrant DOVE was okay. He can only stay in the bath for 10 minutes in lukewarm water. We bought Free & Clear shampoo for his hair. During the day we apply Vanicream to him from head to toe at every other daiper change. You can get the free & clear shampoo and Vanicream at the pharmacy. You have to request it- they can order it for you. It is considered a special over the counter b/c not enough people buy it daily. We keep his room really cool this helps him not get hot and thus itchy. In about 4 days his skin was smooth and his dry itchy patches were gone. He did get 2 RX as well. We apply dermasmooth oil twice a day every other day. He also got an oral anti itch med (given as needed) that we give him 30 minutes before bed, it makes him super sleepy. I know every kiddo is different but maybe some of this can help or you could have your doctor refer you to a dermatologist. Our peditrician tried everything and after a month of no improvement he sent us to a dermatologist. Good Luck!
Organic Excellence is a product line that was created because of this very reason. One of my sorority sisters, Cindy Drasler, spent years with chemists to come up with something for her daughter, who was sensitive to the chemicals in products. http://www.organicexcellence.com/

Shaklee has a product called Optiflora that has been used by babies as young as nine months with great success. One little boy had eczema on his face, and inside his elbows and knees. His ear was so bad that it would bleed when he touched it. Many doctor visits and many creams had not helped. Five days of Optiflora cleared the eczema. Now he takes it once a week or more often if there are signs of a problem. Optiflora is a two part system. First, the powder mixes easily with water and has very little taste. The second part is a tiny pearl which can be mixed into cereal or applesauce.
There is a video documentary by the Canadian Broadcast Corporation called Toxic Brew. You can get this video from Frontrunners at 1-800-237-5199. After you see it, share it with others. My website is www.shaklee.net/buddyandbettyking
and this is where you can find Optiflora and also healthy home products called Get Clean. I hope you won't even wait to see Toxic Brew before you make the change to Get Clean.
I have started using products from a wonderful company and although I have not had skin problems my teammate has had several with her family. I would love to introduce you to this company. They offer skin products as well as harmful chemical free products to use around your home and family. It has really put my mind at ease using these around my daughter (16 months). If you are at interested please e-mail me your info. and I would love to talk with you about it. My e-mail is ____@____.com or my number is ###-###-####. Hi K.,
I myself suffer from eczema. I speculate that it has something to do with the over abundance of yeast in the body and the way the intestines absorb nutrients. Often watching sugar and dairy intake may help reduce eczema. There is an herbal medication that my mother inlaw used for her 3 year old daughter(Sadly I can't remember what it was, but it is out there). Also, Aloe vera will help. I hope you find something that works for your sweetie. Eczema is an awful itch you can't scratch.
M. k
eczema is an allergic reaction --- to something --- either within her environment (pets, dust, mold, pollen) or something she is eating -- all the topical stuff in the world won't work (unless steroid based which is horrible for her skin and could eventually cause skin cancer) -- stay away from ANY scented laundry detergents-use ones that actually list ingredients that you can pronounce - for example-meyers products or seventh generation -- see a reputable acupuncturist for acupressure and/or allergy elimination techniques (try www.thegojiseed.com )-- it's not a quick fix but will help to fix it for her life -- i've had eczema all my life and this is what i've finally learned (i'm 38 now)
Hi K.,
My entire family except for myself suffered from eczema, but since I have switched to using all natural products in my home everyone is eczema free. I use this incredible lotion, that is not only good for eczema but is great for normal skin as well. My husband had the most severe case, he had to take shots in the areas that got so infected from scratching. My three daughters ages 8,6,4 all had it also. My 8 year old daughter would get it off and on due to certain reacations. my 6 year old had it pretty bad, especially behind the knee and the back part of her thighs, also in the creases of her arms, opposite of the elbows. My 4 year old just started getting small signs of it when I started applying this lotion so she really did not get plagued with it. With my 8 year old once I started applying the lotion within a week it was gone, with my 6 year old, it took about two weeks, with my husband it took maybe few weeks longer, his was really bad. Here we are 11 months later and none of them have a problem with eczema. My older daughter has gone to a sleep over once at a very close friend and barrowed a shirt from her because she spilled something on hers. And of course she broke out a little the next day, as soon as I noticed it, I applied the lotion and it took care of it right away. You see not everyone is conscious about what they use in there home but we all should be, especially if we have loved ones who suffer from eczema and other things. Please feel free to contact me by resonding to this email or even call me. I am a stay at home mom, married to a wonderful man for 13, and we have 3 wonderful daugters. I would love to tell you all about the products I use in my home and how you and your family can benefit from them. ###-###-####
My grandson also suffers from eczema. The only thing we have found that works is Arbonne's ABC skin care. It is formulated for babies, but many adults use it. There is a body wash, lotion, and oil. It is pure and safe. The RX are steroids that cause thinning of the skin and shouldn't be used frequently, per the Dr. So, Arbonne has been the answer and really helped our little guy. You can order it online at www.marilynkas.myarbonne.com If you want you are interested ask me how to purchase it 35% off. I will be happy to mail you a sample as well. I became an independent consultant so I could help others. I hope this helps you.
I am assuming you have tried all the creams and lotions. Have you tried the allergy medication Zyrtec?
Hi K.
I don't know if anyone has ever told you but milk and milk products is a major cause of exzema. If your child drinks alot of milk cut back. Hope this helps
when i was younger i had eczema so bad that it left little dot scars (that much later disappeared) on my arms and legs. Creams and ointments (with or without steroids, perscribed or not)never worked. I started using l-lysine vitamins and they seemed to calm my bodies tempurature down. And helped get rid of it over a peiond of time 3-5 days. And I would stop putting anything on the rashes and actually try to dry them out. Moisture jsut makes it worse. Maybe use some calamine for the itching. But for me it seemed to be an internal rise in my body temperature that would set it off. Hope this helps, I know its horrible to go through.
I am an independent consultant with Arbonne International. I am not sure if you have tried the Arbonne ABC baby products, but there are hundreds of consultants who have built their business in the fact that Arbonne's products cured their child's eczema when nothing else would. Arbonne has no petroleum products, no mineral oil and no sythetic fragrances or dyes. All of the ingredients that can really irritate our skin and cause allergic reactions. Just please stay away from vaseline it doesn't let our skin breathe the way it needs to as the largest organ in our body. A friend of mine who baby has had eczema since she was about 3 months old tried everything from homeopathy, herbs to more traditional remedies like steroids and the only relief she finally found was from using the Arbonne baby was, oil and lotion. Please contact me and I will get you a sample. I love helping people feel better. If I can help let me know.

Dear K.,
I too have been fighting for my daughter's eczema since birth. She was born with it on her cheeks and she would scratch as a baby and even make them bleed (had to put little socks on her hands). I have been to her doctor, and the only TEMPORARY fix that works for her has steroids -elocon cream. The doctor gave me that for years and for the past 2 we have been going from dermatologist to dermatologist and still nothing has worked. They don't want to give her the steroid cream anymore. I would appreciate any information you find or "cure" for it because I am at my wits end with it. My daughter is 9 years old.
Thank you,
C.
HI K.,
Try about a 1/2 to a cup of baking soda in her bath, it softens the water and really helped the redness and dry skin heal and continues to help my daughter Brooke who is 20 1/2 months. I only recently found out about it 3 months ago or so and was pleasantly surprised at hwo well it worked.
God Bless you and your little one, TammyT and Brooke Jolie...
Just last week, I found a product called Mustela's Stelatopia and it's awesome. After 2 days, my DS's eczema was almost completely gone......and we don't even get that type of success with the steriod cream our ped gave us. right now, I am using the milk bath and the cream. You can get it online at places like drugstore.com or sephora. And there are a few places around Houston that sell it also. (if you are anywhere near The Woodlands, you can find it at a store called Right Start on Market Street).
Oh I am so sorry eczema sucks!!!!
I and my 7 month old also have eczema. The only product that worked for her was the Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics stuff from Special Addition on Lamar by Central Market. All the red (even raw at times) spots are gone!!! If you haven't tried them they might be worth a shot.
Also you might try eliminating dairy from her diet. That is what kicked it for me.
Best of luck!!!
I have known a few parents who have the same problem. I had an arbonne party and my sister bought the baby line for her co-worker and she loved the product. She said that her son would get dry patches over his body and she still uses it and she loves it. She said that it is the only thing that got rid of his eczema. Hope this helps. It's called the ABC baby line in Arbonne. Let me know and I could help you get some. This is in no means a sales pitch. Thanks!
I know exactly what you are going through. I have two little girls that both suffer from severe eczema.I have also tried everything out there and nothing improves it. The best thing I have found is to rub lotion on the spots every day and pray they dont get worse. We also use nothing with dyes or perfumes. Also have you had her tested fro allergies, after we did this and found out what my girls are allergic to it has helped but not completely. And my youngest has it the worst but we can never get it to go away on the tops of her feet, she is allergic to grass and I would have to keep her inside all day every day to try and get it a little better and I just can not due this because she loves being outside.
have you had her allergy tested? My son had horrible exzema and we tested him and it turns out that he was allergic to our dog and to numerous inside and outside things that only made the exzema worse!
The combo. of 2oz of MonaVie super juice & bathing w/ Arbonne baby wash & lotion has really helped my son & many other mom's I know in my subdivision. They are both super healthy, all natural products that really do great things for the skin.
If you need to know how to get these products let me know & I'll get you in contact w/ the people who sell them.
Good luck!!
Have you checked or considered food allergies. I know that a milk allergy and a wheat allergy can both be the culprits of severe eczema. You might want to check out www.askdrsears.com and examine their food elimination diet to see if she is allergic to certain foods.
If you have not tried any of the following look into them, they worked for my daughter:
aveeno--walmart or cvs, the bath treatment and lotion, they have a sensitive skin kind
real oatmeal in her bath water
eucerin lotion--walgreens kind of expensive
my doctor prescribes singulair in a dosage for her age
and when she was younger i bathed her in plain water and used soap on her important areas, and after the bath i rubbed her down in cornstarch, yes the kind you cook with!! She was cool and less itchy, goldbond powder works well also.
Hope either of these help...

My 4 year old suffers as well. Heat and pool water aggravate it. I make sure his bath water is tepid and I add half a cap full (1 to 2 teaspoons) of Avon's Skin So Soft bath oil. I don't know why but this seems to really help it. For itching I use Cortaid and I never leave home without out it. After his bath I lotion him up with Cetaphil lotion, and then Cortaid. I never use bubble bath. I only use Dove soap for sensitive skin. By doing all of this his eczema has greatly improved. Also, I only use 100% cotton in his sheets, clothes, towels etc.. I also m ake sure his nails are always clean and trimmed short, so that if he scratches himself he will not make things worse. I hope this helps your child. This is a constant battle with eczema, but for now it is much better.
My 4 yr. old daughter has suffered from eczema since about 3 months as well. I'm sure you may have heard of some of these at home treatments but I'll just let you know what we have done for her comfort. Bare in mind, I wouldn't call her case "extreme" like your lil angel. We had a allergy test done because a lot of cases of eczema are also related to food allergies. We found out what she is allergic to and do everything we can to minimize her exposure to these. I use Arbonne Baby care products on her, of which I have noticed better results from then anything we were prescribed by a doctor. We use a cool mist humidifier just about year round to keep moister in the air (which will help aid the skin in retaining moister). I don't use any fragrances of any type on her skin, no fragrances in our laundry detergent, etc. I keep her "lubed" up on lotion and oil atleast 3x a day, more as needed. She's instructed to inform me if she feels itchy, or if I catch her scratching, there goes on more lotion and oil. I don't use any petroleum based products on her which unfortunately is in most prescribed ointments. If it gets really bad, I will use a dab of Cortaid ointment to take the itch off, but since this is a mild steroid, I us it sparingly.
Good Luck, I know how trying it can be. We wish we could just take it away from her in a blink of an eye. I hope your daughter gets some relief soon.

Something that has worked for me is the Herbal Foot Cream by Arbonne International, a health and wellness firm. Their products are botanically based with no petrolatum products at all. I fought eczema for 17 years before being introduced to Arbonne products. I used it for a couple of months and the eczema disappeared. Whenever there is a rare recurrence, I apply the cream and it disappears.
Eczema hurts and can be very painful. I can only imagine how that precious little one feels - and she can't tell you where she hurts.
I am a wholesale customer of Arbonne - I'm not trying to recruit anyone for a business, but I will be more than happy to help you obtain some product.
There are alot of natural products that she could use that work better than the chemical products. Neem is just one of the ones that works great for eczema and psorisis. You can find stuff like this at Whole Foods and sometimes at the central market HEB. Alot of the chemical products strip the skin of its natural moisture.
ARBONNE is the way to go... They have products that are designed for sensative skin. Msg me back and I will help you get your hands on some.

My son is 2 & has had eczema since he was about 3 months. We are currently using Eucerin lotion, Dove sensitive skin soap & body wash, Bendaryl Dye-free & All clear detergent. He still has flare ups but his skin has been clearer now then before. The lotion is applied after each bath & twice during the day. The Benadryl we use mostly at night or if he's scratching during the day. The doctor also prescribed a hydrocortisone cream for the flare-ups & it help a lot.

Hi K.! My 4 year old son has suffered from eczema since birth, and so has a friend of mine's daughter. What worked for me was a mixture of things. The doctor put him on the allergy medicine Zyrtec, and used TRIAMCINOLONE 0.1% CREAM 80G. I put the cream on his eczema every night after his bath, when he is still a little wet. It wasn't until we used this combination that he finally got relief.
My friend's daughter has a more severe case, and she finally took her daughter to an allergist for children. Come to find out, her daughter was allergic to almost everything!! They said that the eczema is a visible sign and outbreak in many allergies. They had to treat the allergies first, and then the eczema became manageable. She's even allergic to dust mites, and can't have stuffed animals. But now that they know and can treat it, she's doing so much better! It's almost gone! You might look into this... Good Luck!
Hello, I have a 3 yr.old daughter that has eczema since she was born...she sometimes scratch like crazy...Anyway, last year in October her eczena had gotten so bad that the she had scratched them into sores and the sores were oozing....so we had went to Texas Childrens Hospital...we had an appointment for my other daughter and when one of the nurses had seen how bad her skin was they had seen her and they had gave her an antibotic for the oozing and a mild steriod cream for when the sores heal....that worked great....so now we use A & D ointment and a cream called Vanicream....we only can apply that to her arms, and legs.....it is a mild steriod....but we put that on her only when her skinned looked like it will infected...but you can also use vaseline...i usually put it on her in the morning, after she takes a bath, and when she starts scratching.....you also can give them Benedryl for the itching....I usually give that to her when she going to bed....so let me know what methods that you had used...Also, Texas Children's Hospital has an Immunolgy Clinic...we have a social worker there, I can call her and see what you can do to get your daughter some help.
Both my kids ages 2 & 3 have a milder form of eczema. I changed detergents to free & clear all. I changed house cleaners to seventh generation brand. My kids go to day care and get filthy! (that is how I know they have had a good day) and so they have to bathe every day without fail! I use mild soaps and shampoos. I rinse them after the bath with clean water and before I dry them off, I apply a mixture of nature something eczema cream and vaseline all over their bodies. Then I take a towel and "dry them" it removes any excess greasiness. Then put them into their pj's. By morning time, their skin is so soft and any dry patches I will reapply a coat for daytime. This vaseline covering on the skin seems to prevent more breakouts. And any breakouts that do happen are usually gone in 5-7 days. I notice some answers talk about allergies etc, well both kids take Zyrtec daily for allergies and I only give them Lactose free organic milk since dad has a milk allergy (he breaks out in hives and starts swelling around eyes and throat), he can drink this kind too. Since I have done all this, it is managable and as long as I don't miss a night, then we have no problems. Any new outbreaks from whatever they have come in contact with are usually nipped in the bud before they get huge. It is strange that both my kids have the same problems as my daughter is adopted, so it tends to make me believ that it is an environmental issue rather than genetics. Hope this help you & your daughter. Bless her heart.
My son and I both have eczema and it is really important to not use anything with perfumes or dyes around the area. We use aveeno lotion, dove soap and the aveeno active naturals eczema care body wash (new product). Use the aveeno lotion at least two times a day. We try to do it before he goes to school and after his shower at night. You can also try oatmeal baths. I find mine is worse when the season changes from hot to cold or vice versa. I have become aware recently that food allergies can play a big part in exzema as well. Please contact me anytime.
All the previous posts sound good ,but here is what I use;
#1- I use a baby laundry det. on my 6 yrs old sons clothes.
#2-I use Eucerin calimg creme daily on my son.
#3-I use Method Baby Bubble bath and Method Baby Body wash
Target carries it. It is 99% hypoallergenic, tear free, perfume dye free.
That is what works for me.
For the occasional flare up,I have a prescription for 1% hydrocortisone.
I had eczema as a child and back then my mom was told to use Vaseline.
I hope you find something that works.
I am guessing your doctor has helped you find out what your daughter is allergic to. Just in case he hasn't, you may want to try eliminating some things from her diet and reintroducing them one at a time to find out what she may be allergic to.
Also, we use ALL Free and Clear to wash our clothes. Your daughter is probably held by most of the people in your house so everyones clothes should be washed in it. Also, try using a scent free fabric softner-Downey makes one. Bounce makes in in the dryer sheets.
For my aczema and for my son's I use Dove sensative skin bar soap. If you get the body wash it has a little perfume in it, which is what you want to avoid. Lubriderm lotion- unscented- is good for right after you dry them off from a bath.
My nephew has it really bad and my sister's doc. told them to only bathe him a couple times a week. That is harder in the summer but really helped him.
She also had a prescription that was mostly Lubriderm type lotion but also had a small amount of steriods in it to help him and then another cream for the really bad spots. The lotion one she put on him every night and only used the other when it was really bad.
My son is allergic to milk so if I keep him off of dairy products he seems to do ok.
I hope this helps. If you can think of anything else let me know and I will see if I can help.
Have you tried bakeing soda?
I strongly suggest that you add Tea Tree oil to whatever you're using to keep her skin moisturized/hydrated. It will naturally medicate and soothe the irritated areas. This will lessen the need for prescription drugs, and you can add it to anything. Make sure that she drinks plenty liquid. If your little sweetie will drink water, that is best for keeping toxins and allergens moving on through her system. Since we know that eczema has no cure, it makes sense to keep her relief as natural as possible and not over-medicate her. precious little system.
Have you heard of or tried the Arbonne ABC baby products? I have heard of great results in similar situations, but don't have personal experience. The products are botanically based and I've witnessed remarkable results on a neighbors niece who had severe cradle cap. If interested I can arrange a free sample.

K., you are right that this is a nutritional problem. Our foods are grown with so many chemicals and in such depleted soil that more people are developing chronic conditions from a younger age.
The solution is to provide the body with superior nutrition and to help it get rid of toxins. That is what Sunrider herbal foods do. Sunrider provides concentrated foods that are specially grown and processed to be the best in the world. They have helped many people regain and maintain their health. The first thing that people usually notice is that their skin improves. The foods are in packages, and mix easily into cereal, juice, or smoothies.
If you're interested, I'll be happy to get some more information for you, including a CD on Sunrider and children. Please get in touch with me at ____@____.com, and we can take it from there.
Hi K.,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. My 3 year old has eczema also, I know what you are going through!! I'm sure you've tried it, but this is what has worked for us. 1/2 a benadryl tab @ night to help w/itching. And prescription cream--mometasone furoate 0.1%, 3-4 times a day. Eczema body wash by Aveeno, short, luke warm baths every other day (not everyday), apply the cream to affected areas then aquaphor to the rest of her body, like lotion (kinda greasy, but works!) be careful not to get it in her hair--too greasy. I use the aquaphor as her lotion everyday even when she is not broken out. This has worked great for us, and when I see the beginnings of a flare up I apply the cream immediately and it seems to go away. I hope this will work for you. Good Luck! And let me know, if you can! K. it is frustrating to see a pretty little girl with itchy cracky dry skin. My daughter suffered severly from birth. I even joined a group of moms that were dealing with the same issues on a blog site raisingkids.com. She is now 6. She would actually peel and dig into her skin and cause sores and dark spots. We changed meds and everything else in our home that we thought would make a difference. Finally I was told by a friend about a products line that changed the skin problems of my whole family. Including me and my husband. I want to share these VERY simple things with you and I can PROMISE help and cost that are better than Eucerin, Cetafil and all of the others that you have used.
Join me tomorrow night on a call that will explain the impact of envionment on the skin and how you can make simple changes that make big differences.

Life is Meant to be GOOD, Live Well
My 7 year old boy has had it since he was a baby. His dermatologist recommended CeraVe lotion from Walgreens. It is the only lotion that has made a difference for him. It is very helpful to sooth the itching for him. Hope this helps.
My 5 year old used to have eczema. About 3 years ago we tried a natural lotion through Melaleuca, called Renew - and it cleared it up and she hasn't had it since. If you go to ebay and type in Melaleuca, you can browse through for that lotion. I don't promise it will work for your daughter, but it is all natural and what if???
I understand exactly how you feel. I have a 2 year old and a 10 month old who both suffer from eczema. What I've learned is that exema is an allergy and you need to find you what it is your child is allergic to that is triggering it to flare so bad. For example with my 2 year old, who has it the worst. Dariy triggers her eczema. Therefore we give soy products to replace the dairy, she is alergic to the cows milk protein. My youngest daugther we dont know what she's allergic to yet im still trying to figure it out. So you should first figrue out what your child is allergic to. It could be penuts, milk, shellfish, grass anything. Once you do stop giving it to him or her right away.
When my girls do have out breaks I use HYDROCORTISONE CREAM USP 1% you can buy it over the counter or have your pedi perscribe some for you. Rub a small amount over the infected areas 3 times a day and it should clear up. Also another thing i've found to be crucial with my girls is to never let their skin get dry. I can name all types of lotions ive tried, but i found that simple vasaline works best. I grease them down with it at least 4 to 5 times daily. And when were going out i use aveno, you need somthing thick to coat your babys skin. One last thing. I dont use any lotions or soaps with perfumes or dyes ive learn it irritaes the skin, and i dont bath them every day it sucks the moisture out of thier skin i bathe them every other day instead.
I hope this infor can help you. I would very much like it if when your chemist forulates a product you can refer it to me, to use on my girls.
I went through the exact same thing with my son at that age. We tried every lotion, cream, you name it we tried it. Then I had a friend tell me to ask my doctor for triamcinolone and it is a miracle in a tube. It takes very, very little. My son suffers mainly in the winter when it is so dry out. He gets to eczema in the crease of his body, behind his ears, and on the back of his neck. Also, we do oatmeal baths and that really helps also when he has a break out. We had to change all soaps, detergents, and dryer sheets. We found that johnson and johnsons baby lotion and body wash worked for him and he still uses that today and he is 9. Also, we found that only All free and clear worked on our laundry. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
My son is 4 yrs old and has extreme eczuma, I have found DERMAREST for eczema works the best for him. I love it. It takes time for the healing process after you aply it (it is a type of lotion) so you have to apply it daily until the skin heals then I do it after every bath. No more scratching and no more bloody legs and arms.
I too have a son with eczema but maybe not quite as severe. I started by using a cream prescribed by the doctor, Elidel (sp) to get it under control. Then I didn't allow him to be in the bath too long and always followed towel drying with Aveeno Skin Relief moisturizing lotion with soothing oat essence. I also use All Free and Clear laundry detergent and no fabric softener. Dove unscented bar soap was suggested by his doctor but we also use Aveeno baby bath. He is allergic to several different pollens and when he plays outside we sometimes have to run him through the shower after he comes in to get the pollen off. From what I understand, less bathing is sometimes better.
I went throught the exact same thing with my son. He would scratch until he bled and it would ooze puss! I finally got fed up and took him to a homopathic doctor. He wasn't properly breaking down fats and protiens. It was a food allergy and also a digestive problem. Because I was nursing him, I had to change my diet so we could isolate the problem. It was the dairy and tomato and ALL processed food. Once we changed our diet that seemed to help in addition to a treatment that the homopathic Dr. did. I forget the name of it but he ran an electromagnetic thingamajig down my son's spine several times.
He still gets ocassional flare ups (mostly on his face)if he eats anything processed.
