My 3 yeaqrs old daughter has beeen running a fever now for 4 days. It has been 103. First of all she started off with upper respiratory infection and sinus infection. She has already messed 2 weeks of school casue, she has been so sick. I have been tring to get her to drink pedialtye but, she os barely drinking anything. Now she has something on her tongue and it looks really bad to me. The doctor in the Er said it was"thrush" but, my husband and I looked it up and it does't look like that.
I am realyl worried about ym child. Are there any suggestions out there from any felllow moms or moms to be? For the past 2 weeks she has been in and out of the docotrs office. I just want my daughter to be okay. I think her fever is to high.

If she isnt drinking anything she could get (or already be) dehydrated, she may need iv fluids to be able to rehydrate herself. Have you tried alternating tylonol (sp?) and ibprophen or motrin every three hours for the fever, i remember my son when he was smaller ran a fever like that (not for that long of a period though), he had to be admitted to the hospital, he had pnemonia (sp?), and that is what they did for the fever, and it broke. My oldest boy got thrush alot, it was alway like a white yellow color and stinks, and a little hard to get off, they gave him meds, but they also got wet gauze or a wet wash cloth (with warm water) and rubbed it around his mouth to get some of it off (at least 2-3 times a day). But I would def. take her back to the ER ASAP, if you dont like the dr. (or what he/she has to say) you could always ask to speak to another or demand that she get admitted, i have done this before, because my son was sick and they couldnt figure out a "quick" answer ended up that he had kidney problems, it is your right to MAKE them do something, even if you have to "throw a fit" to get it done. I hope this helps ya any. Good Luck and I hope she gets better, I will be praying for her.

It may be Fifth's disease. My daughter has the same thing and started out with the same symptoms. She had a fever for 5 days, was not drinking or eating anything, lost 2 lbs (she is only 19lbs at 20 months), had chest congestion, etc... Fifth's is a viral infection and is only contagious while she has the fever. Following the fever most children develop a rash that looks like they have been slapped and sometimes will have a lacey appearance. This is a very common childhood disease, but I had to see a second Dr to get the correct diagnosis.

I'd take her to a new peditrician. There's nothing wrong with getting a second opinion and your 1st pedi. never has to know about the second. That should ease your mind.

When my daughter was 2 months old, she woke up one morning with a fever of over 103 and I was terrified. I took her in immediately to find out she had a kidney infection. SHe didn't seem sick at all, and thank God her fever was that high or I never would have taken her in. The tests they had to run on her were terrible, like the cathiter (sp?). But she was in the hospital for 4 days and they performed a spinal tap (which was terrible too) to rule out meningitis. Kidney infections can lead to that in small ones. Take her back in if the fever is still there--bc if it is this high, something is wrong. I am not trying to scare you, but especially if you can't get her to drink anything, this is a possibility. Hope this helps and Good Luck!!

did the doc do a chest xray? have they ruled out pneumonnia? if she is not really drinking then possibly she will need IV fluids. My fiance is an ER doc and suggested that you go back to the doctor. Hope she gets better soon!

If she does not get better soon and you are not confident in your pediatrician, consider taking her to an ENT. I had a similar problem with a 3 year old last year and it just continued. I took her to an ENT, he put her in the hospital, and finally determined she had to have her tonsils taken out. Since then no problems and it's a year later. I highly recommend Dr. Timothy Trone at Medical City. good luck.
