Is he teething? My son sticks his entire fist in his mouth sometimes b/c he's teething and he gags. If he's getting teeth in the back of his mouth and wants to chew there, he probably will keep gaging himself accidentally.

My 1 year old son has been sticking his fingers down his throat and making himself gag and throw up!!! i am so frustrated/worried about that. i've never known a baby to do that! Do any of you know anything about this? what should i do!? Thanks in Advance!

This is very normal! When I have seen my boys or the boys I care for do this I just tell them to stop and they do. It is a normal phase.
hi-
is he gnawing on his fingers to soothe sore gums or is he doing this as to get a reaction from others? that will be a good place to start to determine how you can get rid of that behavior.... talk to you soon
My son did this a few time and threw up too. It was always while we were eating, so I told him dinner was over and took him out of his highchair. I didn't make a big deal out of it since I knew he was exploring his body and any reaction from me would have made him want to continue.
It didn't seem to bother my son at all when he made himself throw up. It lasted about a month; not every day, but maybe twice a week he would gag himself. My son was maybe 16 months old when he discovered that sticking his finger down his throat was interesting. I don't think you have to worry about it unless he does it a lot and begins to lose weight or something like that. Try not to make a big deal out of it and he will stop when it gets old.
My little girl also did this. It is perfectly normal, as they're just experiencing new sensations. I found myself getting upset about it told her to stop, which actually made her do it more. I chose to ignore it, and she stopped doing it about a week later. She only did this for about 2 weeks...and usually in the mirror b/c she thought it was funny. I'm sure your son will also become "bored" by it soon, too. :)
