Please can I have any ideas on how to get my son who is 1 1/2 years old to sleep through the whole night or at least 5-6 hours. He'll go to sleep then he sleeps for about 2-3 hours and wakes up screaming stay up for 3-4 hours and then go back to sleep. I've given him tylenol or ibuprofen becaue the scream sounds like he's hurting but nothing helps. Lately he's been doing nothing but cry and or whine all day. The only thing that makes him happy is outside but even then he acts out sometimes and I can't be outside all day. And it's not that we let him sleep all day because of this whole situation I don't let him nap after 4 and he'll still stay up till midnight sleep few hrs wake up for 4 hrs sleep for couple and do the whole thing over. I'm really frustrated and don't know what to do anymore I'm losing my mind on how to figure out whats wrong and from lack of sleep. He's not sick that I can tell and he was just at the doctor everything was great. Sorry this request is so long I just don't know what to do anymore, please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi S.
You may want to have him tested for allergies.

I'm having a nearly identical problem with my 9 month-old. My good friend used a book called "Good Night, Sleep Tight" written by someone called "the Sleep Lady". She swears by it and was successful with both her boys, ages 3 and 18 months. I checked out the reviews on Amazon and they are great so I'm going to give it a try. Apparently she has advice for all stages, birth to age 5. Good Luck!

When he wakes are you talking to him? Turning on the light? Does he sleep in your room?

Have you ever considered acid reflux? My son has it and before we found the right medicine he would wake up screaming all night.
