Mulluscum

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has a child with mulluscum. It's a viral infection of the skin. My nephew had it last year and now my daughter has it. She's had it for about 9 months and it started as a few spots on her belly, but has now moved to her neck. Fearing it would spread to her face etc, I took her to the Dermatologist. Most Docs don't treat it because it is a virus and will resolve on it's own in about 1 year.

Anyway, they put "beatle juice" on some of the spots which are now healing, but I noticed it's now under her arm.

My question is, has anyone used anything else that they found helpful. Last week once they applied the "beatle juice" the spots blistered and were very uncomfortable for her...she's only 6.

If anyone has heard of anything "over the counter" that has provided some help, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Marybeth

My 3-1/2 year old son has it on the back of his knees and his back and bum--areas where he is aggrivated by eczema. I'm not sure what "beatle juice" is, but it sounds uncomfortable. I've kept my son's under control by placing a drop of apple cider vinegar on a round or square bandaid (one where the cloth part of the bandaid is completely surrounded by the sticky part so that is completely sealed and no outside air gets in) and place it on the lesion. I leave it for 24 hours, take them off, and then wait another day or two. After a few treatments the lesions dry up and disappear. You need to remove the bandaid after the 24 hours because the lesions start to itch and are uncomfortable. If there are alot of lesions concentrated in one area I use a few drops of cidar vinegar on the Nexcare Tattoo bandaids which are larger but are also completely sealed all around. They also come in fun prints. Apple cidar vingear works really well on all sorts of warts by using the same process. You can also soak hands or feet with warts in cidar vinegar for a half hour per day, and the warts will dry up and disappear. Sounds weird, but it has kept his under control without subjecting him to blistering. Not sure if this will help your daughter as she probably doesn't want to go to school with bandaids all over her neck, but you could try it over christmas vacation or maybe just at night.

Good luck.

My daughter had it when she was in Kindergarten. They applied the liquid to make it blister as well. Once it blistered, it seemed to heal pretty quickly. She went in a second time after the first batch had healed since there were more spots that had developed. She had the liquid applied again and once that healed there were maybe just a couple of spots that we just left to go away on their own. The whole experience was not fun but my daughter was really good about it. This was 10 years ago and there was no other option at that time. It is hard to go through but not a permanent situation. Hopefully she will not continue to have more outbreaks. I wish you luck.
