didn't with my kids, but i'm not a doctor so i can't say.
don't you think calling the doctor's office and asking them would be better than diagnosis by strangers on the internet?

My 2 yr old had his adenoids removed yesterday. Today thick yellowish mucus is coming from the left nostril. Is this common to happen after having the procedure??

What does your Dr say? That’s the first person I’d ask if I had a concern about my child’s health, especially post surgery.
Call the doctor. Either the surgeon or the pediatrician. You need medical advice from someone who knows your child, your child's history, and your child's condition with respiratory and nasal issues immediately before the surgery. You have a 24 hour number - every pediatrician does - and this is exactly the time to use it.
When my child had his adenoids out, we did not have this happen. Not sure if that helps you. I don't recall this being described as a possible outcome (post surgery). This was years ago though. You should have been given a pamphlet on what to expect and a hotline number to call. At the very least - if you don't have a clinic number to call from ENT at the hospital (check through the papers they gave you, it should be there), call your ENT's number, and if that fails, call your pediatrician's office.
Just describe what is happening and go from there.
Good luck.
I'd check the discharge paperwork to see what to expect after surgery and if it isn't addressed in the paperwork I'd call the surgeon's office and speak with the nurse. Most likely your 2 yr old is on abx so if there's an infection it would be taken care of.
Geez! Ask the doctor! After care is a part of the surgery.
When I had my tonsils remove, my throat was very, very sore. I expected that. When the soreness didn't get better, I called the doctor. Turns out I had a strep infection. The doctor said I should've called right away.
I suggest that yellowish mucous could be an infection.
The surgery was yesterday?
Were there any post surgery care instructions?
My guess would be that his sinuses can drain better than they did before - and that's a good thing.
Certainly talk with the doctor about any concerns you have.
Ask if your child can blow his nose gently or if you can use a bulb syringe to help remove the mucus.
With nose, sinus, adenoid issues I would expect there might be some mucus to deal with.
With the surgery being just yesterday it should take a little while for it to heal up.
You might need to keep a humidifier in his room at night to help keep the air moist for awhile.
Keep him well hydrated and a warm bath or steamy shower can help with keeping any congestion clear.
I hope he feels better soon.
When our son had his tonsils out at 4 yrs old they did his adenoids at the same time.
We mostly were dealing with the sore throat after surgery but he healed up quickly.
