N.O. asks from Park Ridge, IL

Hi All,

We'll be moving this fall and I'm looking for feedback (positive and negative) on movers. We're moving from Norridge to Park Ridge so it's a short distance (less than 3 miles), but we have a full house to move. I plan on doing the major packing myself.

Thanks!

Samson movers (purple truck guys). We used them to move our VERY jam pack 3rd floor (no elevator) condo in the city plus two storage units to New Lenox, IL and they did a FANTASTIC job. Very reliable, reasonable and just great all around. By far the best moving experience me and my husband has had. They came recommended to us. Ask for John when you call. Good luck.

We had excellent experience with Midway movers - they were very fast and the cheapest by far. They also were able to get furniture in that another mover was not. So good luck - its a challenge still getting all the things unloaded and put away. We moved 2 weeks ago!

We used EZ Movers (in the hot pink truck) for our move in April. It was horrible. They gouged the walls at our new place, showed up with an extra guy because "it would go faster than the estimate" (it didn't, and ended up costing us more), left trash all over my patio, and then tried to bully me (at almost 9 mos pregnant) into a larger tip. When we complained to the company, they basically told us too bad.

I had a bad experience with Best Price Movers - a bunch of my Disney DVD's were stolen during the move. The boxes were opened and cd's slid out so I didn't notice for a couple weeks when I went to put a movie on for my kids and found about 40 of the DVD's missing from their cases. They told me to write a letter and they would review it. I felt so violated and wanted them to at least talk with the movers from that day. They didn't even want to date of my move or my name or anything. A few months after I sent the letter they sent a letter saying they wouldn't take any responsibility but would agree to give me $100.

ALSO, a good friend of mine used Midway Movers and had some damage to furniture and they wouldn't fix it or take any responsibility whatsoever for the damage.

Good Luck!
