Hi, We are buying our first home this month!! We close on the 26th and we need some help moving. We are in an apartment, so we don't have too much. We're even willing to do most of the moving, just need help with the big stuff (couches, big screen tv, etc). We had a company give us an estimate and it was alomst $600!! Does anyone know of another company that could move us and not be so expensive?? We would have everything packed and ready, just need someone to load and unload it. We are moving from Lewisville to Fort Worth!
Thanks!!
J.

I can't think of the company name right this minute, but emailed him for it. They moved me in January and I was very pleased. They came recommended from a friend who was also very pleased.

If you want details, my number is ###-###-####.

$600 is actually pretty cheap. My husband works for United Van Lines, so they are of course going to be expensive. If you are wanting to have someone load and unload EVERYTHING, then $600 is pretty good. If you just need help with a few big pieces then I would consider trying to hire a couple of guys by the hour. It might save you some money.
Good Luck on the move.

Congratulations on the new house! I don't know how expensive this mover is, but he and his wife go to my church, and I recommended them to a good friend when she and her husband moved across town: Kimber Relocation, ###-###-####. They're very nice people.

I'm with the other reply....$600 sounds like a deal.

We moved from a 2500 sq ft house in 2000 to our current 4000+ sq ft house and paid Mayflower a little over $1000 for the larger pieces plus boxes that were already packed and ready to go.

We only moved about 1 1/2 miles to our new home and we moved most everything ourselves. We have some very delicate pieces that needed to be moved carefully and Mayflower did an excellent job. Also, we were covered in case of accidental breakage, damage, etc.

Good luck with your move.

I would highly recommend NOT USING AB moving! They were horrible and did not even show up on move day. It was a horrible experience. The off duty firemen we used 2 yrs ago and 3 yrs before that were amazing. They moved us very quickly, professional and nothing was broken or damaged! They are highly recommended for anyone looking to move.

I clean for a guy that owns his own moving company. I am not sure of his prices but from what I have overheard (when he gives quotes while I am cleaning) he seems very reasonable. He can answer any of your questions...I believe he is listed with the BBB and I know he is a great guy so I am sure his crew his great also...

Anyway give him a call...hope it works out for you!

His name is Brian ###-###-#### His company is Mighty Movers.

Hope that helps

I used Diamond Movers a few years ago - and my sister has also used them - I think it was around $300-350 when they moved me from my apartment (couch, bedroom, washer/dryer, entertainment center, table & chairs). They were extremely efficient and careful. They gave me a quote over the phone - or go to www.diamondmovers.com. Last time I used Apple movers they were not very careful or that cheap.

Good luck!

i used Day Off Moving - it's a family business (i think it's 2 brothers) and we found them through mutual friends who played in a Dallas women's soccer league together. i too had gotten quotes from big name movers and between their high prices and all the internet chatter about how they scam homeowners, i preferred to go with a couple of hardworking local guys!

We moved a year ago and used Little guys movers out of Denton and they were fabulous!!!! We too moved the little stuff, but they handled all of the big items. They were very detailed about how they took things apart and were sure to put them back the exact way they found it.

I highly recommend using movinghelp.com (you can link to it off of the uhaul website). They provide many moving company options with a variety of very good prices and best of all you can read customer reviews to decide which company to use. We used Midnight Hour and were very pleased, they were great and I would recommend them if they are available.
Also, just a tip I learned in our recent move is that it takes a lot longer to pack the truck when moving out than it does to unpack the truck when moving in to your new place. I paid for 3 hours on each end to load my furniture and boxes from a 2 bedroom house into the u-haul and I needed an extra 1/2 hour to hour loading, but paid for an hour too long on the unloading end (Midnight Hour was finished unloading the truck in probably 1 1/2 hrs and spent the rest of the time arranging and assembling furniture for us).
For 2 men for 3 hours I paid approximately $200 (so $400 total to load and unload).
Best of luck!

We hired people from laborready.com to load and unload and then got our own Uhaul to transport. That really cut down on costs. You'd still have to provide your own dollies (which you can rent). Good luck!

There are several companies in the DFW area who are staffed by off duty firefighters. They are reasonable and good. I don't remember the name of the company, but it has Firefighter in the title. They moved my daughter and charged by the hour with a minimum of about $100. If you have everything ready for them, it takes less time. My daughter moved the big stuff from Mid Cities to Lewisville and the cost was under $200.
