I still turn to the old school classics--Hip Hop mostly. I Got the Power, Bust It, Marky Mark, etc. those are so fun and have great beats. I would look up a list of old school hip hop songs and see what sounds good.
Hi Ladies -- my daughter is on the swim team, and swim meets include a lot of sitting around. I'd like to load up her ipod with positive, encouraging songs (lyrics) which have a beat. We're open to any genre of music, including pop, rock, country, christian, etc from any time period. All I can think of is "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky! What about you?

One of my favorite songs is "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" by John Parr. The song was originally written for Rick Hansen, who went around the world in his wheelchair to raise awareness for spinal cord injuries. His journey was called the "Man in Motion Tour." Pretty cool.
A few others I like are "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi, "What a Feeling" by Irene Cara, and "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree. I like the '80s. :)
Good luck!
Our swim team plays the theme from Spongebob...much to my chagrin. LOL Some others: Mortal Kombat, Beat It...I can't think of any more, either. G/L at the meet :)
Not 100% sure of the lyrics, but check out The Whip by Locksley, I can't remember if it's Whip or The Whip, but if you google Locksley songs, it will come up. They have my FAVORITE song which is called Darling It's True, which has nice lyrics and an AWESOME beat.
