So, Mother's Day is around the corner and I have NO ideas gift wise for my mom. Have you stumbled on any great ideas? My parents live in Florida and need NOTHING. Thought about sending chocolate covered strawberries or flowers, but hate spending sooo much on shipping. Could send a gift card to a restaurant, but sort of boring. I have made her a calendar and given coffee mugs with my kids pictures on them, so I don't want to do anything along those lines. And a greeting card does not seem like enough because she is a GREAT mom. Any ideas from you clever ladies out there?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up buying a couple candles and cute little holders from Bath & Body Works. Not over the top exciting, but it's something and it's already in route..yeah!

Part of the gift for my mother and mother-in-law this year was taking some of my 4 year old daughters art work and we cut it up and decoupaged it onto tiles to make coasters for them.

Do grandmothers ever get tired of photos of the grandkids, or of something hand-made by them? I don't know how old your kids are, but they could decorate a frame that holds a photo of them, or of all of you.

A heart-felt note that she can re-read is something she'll treasure.

When my mom was 75, I wrote her a little journal with 75 memories of my childhood that involved her - I remember this trip, I remember you always waiting for me when I got home from school, I remember the time the dog ate half my birthday cake, etc. etc. You could do something along those lines, either from just you or from everyone in your family. You could put a few small remembrances in a little frame she can display.

How about a DVD or CD of things you do with your children that she has done with you as a child? Then at the end you could say something like thank you for my memories of us and now for my childrens' memories.

What do your parents like to do in their leisure time? Golf...going to the beach...playing cards with friends....maybe their leisure time activities can be a place to start...if she plays golf...you could get a great golf umbrella or new golf balls...a golf ball personalizing tool... does she go to the beach? How about one of those cool little shade shelters or new beach towels? I love gifts that are more personalized...that show that my daughters really thought about what I need or would enjoy...not just the run of the mill stuff.

This year I went store bought for Mother's Day. I bought a frame from Hallmark for both my mom and my MIL. It was very pretty with little flowers that had "pearls" for centers and it says "great moms get promoted to grandma" I thought it was just cheesy enough to bring a few tears to eyes. We already get my MIL hers because we were with her at Easter and she did tear up.
Obviously we filled it with a picture of our girls.
Today I am having my two year old make them cards that I can put in the mail today or tomorrow so that they will be there by Saturday.

I bought stepping stone kits for each grandma! My son is 2 so I'm going to put his hand print in the middle and write his name around it. It also comes with gem stones and colored rocks to add to your design. I thought it would be cute for their gardens!

Something you've made with photos would be great. I always love something framed that I can display without having to mess with it first. Most of my ladies friends love to eat out as much as I do, so a restaurant card should be welcome unless she's rolling in money. I'd never consider a restaurant card boring but I'm on a very limited budget.

you could get her a gift card to spa finders. she can use it at many different spas and you can e-mail it to her through the website-so no shipping. also my sisters and i will sometimes order a meal (apps dinner dessert) and have my dad or brother go pick it up. i know i always like not having to worry about dinner:) good luck!
