Hi Molly,
Most men are visual, and enjoy movies. If he likes Sci fi, how about the "alien" gift set of movies (amazon.com)
...or how about a movie or series he loved as a child. Maybe you can find it for purchase online. My husband loved star trek so we got him the original TV series set. He loves it. we also found an old book he had as a child and purchased it from Alibris.com. SOme places sell antique toys, maybe he talks about a favorite toy from his childhood?
How about a book on tape if he has a long commute.
How about a picture for his office - my husband loves airplanes. We got a print of a ww2 bomber for his office wall and had it matted and framed.
Has he ever thought of playing music? how about a nice guitar and some lessons? This was one of my husbands favorite gifts that I bought him.
You could buy him an Ipod or iphone and secretly download ALL of his music collection to it. (he would be thrilled!) Men just love gagets and toys.
Did he ever like to build models as a kid? you could buy him a model.
How about this....My husband likes time with freinds but men dont usually get around to scheduling time with buddies. Make him a cupon, and then Set up an arangement with his freind, for them to go out golfing or something. When his freinds drop him off from the outing you can be waiting with fine china, candles, a bottle of champage (and the child at a sitter)after the meal give a massage with warm coconut oil (you can get this in health food stores) and then have great sex! finish the whole night off with a list of "50 reasons why I would marry you all over again" tucked into a card or small wrapped box.
A Bible bookstore can have countless inspirational books for fathers and husbands. They also have leather book covers. I highly reccommend an NIV study Bible for any new parent!
Take him on a hunt for his gift. Start with a clue tucked into his stocking. each spot he goes to, give him a new clue (and a piece of chocolate with it)until he gets to the last clue- which is the gift itself.
