Mosquitos!!! - Fort Stewart,GA

How do you keep mosquitos away from your house? The mosquitos out here are in full force and when we walk outside, they are all over the siding and doors of our apartment. I am afraid that they will fly inside the house and eat us alive at night while we sleep, since they hang out on the doors that open into the house.

What can I do next?

Bats!! I seriously love bats. This year we are building them houses. :)

We also have a mosquito trap. I can't remember the brand and will say they are pricey but they work. Ours was around 400.

If you live in an apartment I would go to your leasing office and check into having their extermination company do a mosquito treatment. We had it done a few years ago and it worked wonders!

Mosquitoes love standing water.

So if you have standing water in your yard, they are attracted to it and will stay near it. That's where they breed and lay their eggs.

Plant marigolds, catnip and rosemary in your garden and around your house. These plants all emit odors that are unpleasant to mosquitoes and will keep them away.

I don't know if this helps or not, but this house is the first house where we have never had a mosquito problem - and we have a lot of frogs in our back yard! They are just the little tree frogs, no bigger than about an inch long. They're adorable, if a bit loud at night. If there is any way you can buy frogs and let them loose, that may help. Apparently they are voracious eaters, because not only do we not have mosquitos, but my roses don't have aphids (not sure if it's related, but it seems likely?), I haven't seen any of those roly-poly bugs... the only spiders I've seen have been the orb spiders that build their webs way up high. Go, frogs!

This is so funny because just this morning as I was playing on Pinterest, I ran into this and saved it to show my hubby.... (scroll down to the bottom where it talks about what plants to have in your yard)
