We use California Baby for sunscreen and bug spray. The sunscreen is awesome. The bug spray is OK - not as effective as some of the more toxic ones but I'd rather have a few bug bites than slather my kids with toxins. We use garlic oil in the yard (we order is online and spray it with a garden pump sprayer) and that really works well. That plus the CB bug spray keeps the mosquitoes to a minimum when we're at home.

I have been bathing in Shaklee's Basic H for years. It really helps repel insect bites and also relieves pain from burns, including sunburn. I haven't had misquito bite in over 15 years, even when we lived near a pond and they were constantly swarming in our yard. (These are "off label" uses.) Taking B complex also helps.
Shaklee's sunscreen is also awesome.

we use the 'don't bite me' patch. it's basically a vitamin B patch. the only downside is that you have to put it on farther ahead of time so that the vit. B gets absorbed. again, not as effective as the chemical stuff but still works well.

I ditto California Baby for sunscreen and bug spray. We've used the sunscreen for 3 years now and love it. It is highly rated by EWG (linked by another mom). The only place we've found it is Target, but it's probably available online too. We just got the bug spray for the first time this year. It is DEET free and uses citronella, lemongrass, and cedar to repel bugs. Unfortunately, you will smell like citronella with this one, but at least it's chemical-free. We've had good luck repelling mosquitos with this one but we went on a hike and I was chased and bit by a biting fly or bee repeatedly! I guess it was determined to get me out of there regardless of how I smelled or tasted!
