I had morning sickness w/#1 when I felt sick I would go & I'd feel better. This one the sick feeling just hangs around & I gag w/o relief.

I didn't have bad morning sickness, but I do suffer from seasickness. I went on a cruise recently and knew we would do some small, rocky boat stuff. I bought ginger gum at CVS - it's kinda pricy, but it WORKED!!! It doesn't smell, and is no where NEAR as spicy as fresh or candied ginger. I don't know if crackers by the bed would help. I've heard that immediately eating them can tame the nausea.

Good luck!

i drank lots of water! and sucked on peppermint candies, if you can stand the taste or smell.
my GF said banana's helped with her morning sickness. does it start first thing in the morning? try and eat something right away when you get up, not a huge breakfast but maybe eating some crackers or some toast... good luck!

Part of it will be trial and error, everyone is a little different at what makes them feel better or worse. For me, dark chocolate and a fizzy drinks calmed me down, but fried food, beef, blueberries, and saltines were guaranteed to make me sick.

Don't let yourself get completely hungry or completely full. Eat small meals through out the day. Stay hydrated. Listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants and what it can't stand (i couldn't stand ginger either). Stay away from high fat and high sugar as these will make it worse.

It will get better.

Everyone is different. Having been through 4 first trimesters all very nauseated, this is what helped:

keep even blood sugars. Cut meals in half and eat twice as often. Or eat small meals with snacks. Include some protein and fiber with each meal /snack to keep your blood sugars even. Skip sugar and refined flour or anything that will spike blood sugar (soda, juice, cakes, cookies, pancakes, boxed cereals...)

Keep hydrated. Drink mint tea or even chew mint gum or to keep weird metal tastes out of mouth.

Take prescription anti nausea if you need too, but watch out, they are very constipating.

Ask your doctor for zofran. I didn't get it until my 3rd pregnancy...after throwing up all day long for way past my first trimester with my first 2 pregnancies. Its an amazing nausea medication. You will feel like new!

I'm so sorry, Tiara. I remember this more than I wish I did!

Some people actually put something to eat beside the bed the night before and as soon as they awake, before even sitting up, reach over and grab it to stick in their mouths. You might try that. You should also try to hydrate while you're in the bed. Being a little dehydrated contributes to morning sickness.

I tried to put a little bit of something in my mouth every time I felt the "queaziness". I'd have something in my desk at work, even. If I walked into the kitchen, I'd get really ill, so it had to be out of the kitchen.

Smoothies were a lifesaver for me - put protein powder, milk and fruit in it. You can use spinach and it will look green, but won't taste funky.

Are you taking your pregnancy vitamins with folic acid? That's SO very important to help prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida and some forms of cleft palate. Pick the time of the day when you feel that best and make sure that you've eaten before taking it.

Good luck getting through this.

Zofran, but um, you need to take 2 Colace with it. The constipation is unreal.

I hear you as I'm a bit further along than you with little relief and I choose not to have any more children. I never thought I'd say that. Never thought I'd be so miserable with morning sickness. It's seriously difficult to not be able to take care of the many little ones I have. It's never been this bad! And I have Zofran so I can eat and not throw up. It does nothing for my nausea.

With my 8 pregnancies each was different. One I ate ice cream for breakfast, and too many other times too. Then with one mint type candy helped, one I craved raw veggies, and sometimes these helped with the sickness but usually nothing helped at all. It only lasted for about until the 4th month but I really feel bad for those who have it all 9 months. I think with some crackers made it way worse for me, but the suggestion to not let your stomach get too empty or too full is maybe the best. Just nibble during the day on whatever you find helps. Some I was worse in the morning, some worse at night, some all day long nausea.

I agree that everyone experiences this differently.

I had terrible morning sickness with my first pregnancy. I always had saltines on hand. I also found that eating a little bit of something helped a lot.

Nausea can be helped by having a very cold rag on the back of your neck. Also drinking very cold liquids or even freezer pops or fruit bars can help settle your stomach down. There is something about the cold that aids in nausea.

Hopefully, this will be short lived for you, but when I get nauseous, pregnant or not, something ice cold settles my stomach down. Saltine crackers are pretty good too. You can also buy bags of Oyster crackers, they're little, and have a few of them to settle your stomach.

Sometimes getting something in your tummy can really help.

I hope you will be over this phase soon.

Best wishes.

If your not against medication, Zofran worked wonders for me with my second pregnancy. Your ob should be willing to prescribe it.

Good luck and congrats :)

I'm 13 weeks and it has started to subside thank God. But when it first started, some Vernor's ginger ale would help. As it got worse unfortunately nothing seemed to do the trick. I hated to hear that i'd just have to wait it out but for me it was true. My dr even prescribed Zofran but that did little for me.
I agree with the suggestion to never let your stomach get completely empty, and don't get too full. Those are the times i'd feel the worst also.
Hopefully something works for you because i know how tough it is, good luck!

I am sorry. I was constantly nauseous in my first trimester with my daughter, and I bought these things at CVS called "sea bands" that you wear on your wrists. They have a little plastic nub that presses a pressure point on your wrist, taking away the nauseous feeling. They really worked for me. Food wise, I agree with snacking lightly and keeping something in your stomach. I found that salty foods offset my nausea a ton. Good luck. =)
