Does anyone have any tips or ideas to get through morning sickness? This is my second pregnancy and I have all day sickness....I wish it were just in the morning! I had the same thing with my daughter and it lasted the whole 9 months. The only thing thats gets me through is eating carbs.....breads and pasta but I don't want to gain 60 lbs again like I did during my last pregnancy. Any other suggestions to help get me through?!?!?! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling like this. I experienced this too. There is a name for non stop morning sickenss that lasts throughout pregnancy and it can be dangerous if you can't keep anything down so watch your hydration!!! What my ob told me, and worked for me at least a little bit... put crackers next to your bed. When you wake in the morning, eat one and lie there some more. Don't sit up all the way if you can help it. when you do get up, get up SLOWLY. allow yourself to raise from bed slowly - elbows first elevating your head just a little, then sitting all the way up. wait there for a minute, put your feet on the floor, wait... and then stand. don't just rush up and out of bed. also, try eating several small meals instead of 3 big ones. stay away from acidic food items (ie: OJ, tomatoes, spicy food). keep pretzels or crackers at hand but just eat one or two when feeling nausous and then lie down for a bit. anytime you rise, do it slowly. also, i wasn't a big soda drinker in my pg but my ob also said, if you are, or even if you aren't, if you let the carbonation go out of a soda, and then drink it, it's settling to your stomach. you can try that, or ginerale or 7 up. she suggested even with 7up, to let the carbonation go out (ie: flat). you don't have to drink it totally flat - yuck, but just let it sit out for a bit before you drink it to eliminate some of the fizz. Hope you get feeling better soon. Drink lots of water and rest bunches. You really need to watch your hydration if you are actually throwing up. Dehydration can lead to premature labor among many other things. Best of luck to you.

I feel so sorry for you. My daughter just had her 3rd child and unfortunately this is something called Hypermesis (sp). The only thing that my daughter was able to do was take Zolfran. She made many a trips down to the hospital to get rehydradrated from dehydration, about 1x every week to 1 1/2 wks. So I do understand your problem. There is a natural tea that you can buy at the health food stores that is supose to help, because of the strong smell my stuborn daughter refused to try it. Sorry I don't remember the name but the health food store I sure can direct you. Best of Luck and take care of yourself.

I am so sorry! I was throwing up as I was delivering- I was sick the entire time and hated every minute of it!!!! I am dreading getting pregnant with #2. My doctor gave me phenergan suppositories and Zofran- neither worked. All the tricks people have told me never worked. You just keep telling yourself that it is temporary and one day SOON it will be a memory. I gained 60 lbs as well and do not want to do that again either. I honestly feel for you. Every time I see a pregnant woman it makes my stomach turn out of sympathy. Just hang in there. It will end as you know.

Zofran was my answer with my first pregnancy. I had morning, noon and night sickness. I lost 15 pounds with my 1st pregnancy. My 7 year old is fine so it didn't affect her. My 2nd pregnancy I had some morning sickness but nothing like the 1st time around. I ate ginger snap cookies, ginger ale, crackers all the stuff they tell you but Zofran worked the best. They give it to cancer patients to help keep down the food and gain some weight. Good luck, I hope it ends soon.

I was really sick with my 2nd child. I threw up from conception right up to the minute I pushed her out. It was horrible. The only thing that helped me was a prescription for Zofran that my doctor gave me. You may want to ask your doc about that.

I went through the same thing. Occasionally high-fructose corn syrup helped. You can by it OTC. If you can't even down that you could mix it with some other type of HFCS drink. Black licorice helped at times as well. I've heard of women using Cal-Mag (Calcium/Magnesium), but it didn't help me. Hang in there!!
