I just wanted to thank everyone so much for there advice I think we will go ahead and take him but I will definitely go and get some earplugs or earmuffs and see if he will even tolerate them before we go.

My hubby took my son last year at 19 months and will take him again this year. It created a love of monster trucks. Its loud, earplugs are a must. My son loves monster trucks, and had a great time.

The best piece of advice - invest in ear phones/muffs - the kind that go over the ears. The ear plugs don't fit, they fall out, etc etc etc You and your kids will enjoy it so much more if you do that. My kids love it and have since they were about 3.
But it amazes me the amount of people who go with little kids and don't think about the noise level...

You know, my only worry is that its very loud. I remember going to it with my hubby before we had children and I saw people with kids and thought, gee...its loud for them in here! He would probably like it, but I wouldn't take him if he won't wear earplugs.

We started taking our son when he was 3, and he loves it. We will be returning for our third one in January. And to risk repetition...Ear muffs are a must, I say ear muffs because it's hard to get the ear plugs to fit correctly, whereas the ear muffs seal off around the ears. GO, and enjoy!!!

I've taken my daughter since she was a year and half and now she's 7. My in-laws take their daughters, too. We just make sure to have ear plugs or ear muffs you use when shooting to cover their ears because of the noise. They have a blast and it's a totally fun family event!

Get earplugs or ear muffs that are used for construction or offshore because the noise level is enough to burst his ear drums or at the very least cause hearing loss.

I agree with Katie - it is VERY loud, I know my kids hated to go any place really loud at that age - could be because they had ear problems but it can't be good for little ears - and I don't think little ones will/should wear earplugs yet. Might want to wait a bit or risk wasting your money when he's screaming to leave - enjoy whatever you do!

If this is the same thing we used to take our kids to, take him, but he should wear ear plugs. His ears can be Permanently damaged, because it is so loud even one time can damage his ears.
He will love the monster jam.

Definitely take both the ear plugs and the over-the-head ear muffs (the ones used in plants). Get the ear plugs in advance and cut them down around the sides. They are not made to fit into little ones ears. Days before you go, have him wear them for periods of time to get used to having them on. My son always thought they were cool, but having to wear them for the extended time of the show, he was not happy with.

Our family and ours, both boys now 7, have been taking them since they were 1 1/2 years old. They love it. We are now planning a trip to the finals in Las Vegas in March.

We also pay the little bit of extra price and get the club level seats. That way we can go back behind the glass and sit in comfortable couches and chairs if we want to. This came in really handy a couple of years ago when my son got sick on the way there. He's not one to throw up (usually it's once and it's over with), but we had to stop on the way for him to. We thought it might have just been a bit of car sickness, so we kept on going. He threw up again a little walking in. He decided he wanted something to eat, 15 minutes later, that came up. I took him behind the glass, to keep him near the bathrooms. We sat in one of the chairs and watched it on the TV monitors. He ended up falling asleep about half way through it. He was fine after that.

I have to add that we also went when I was pregnant with him. He's a May baby, so I was about half way along. He also went in my belly to see Jimmy Buffett about 3 weeks before he was born. My husband and his first wife went to Monster Jam when she was pregnant with their daughter (my now almost 21 year old step-daughter), she was born about a month later. He tells me how she kicked when the trucks were racing.
