her mother is advocating her, telling the public shes not a monster. There are plenty days I am fed up with the attitudes, tantrums, and things my kids throw at me. I do not beat them with anything more than a loud yell, and I do not glue hands to the wall, or hit them with jugs of milk. Sheesh she IS a monster. Cut and dried. How do these kids grow up with a healthy sense of how to be human, when you have an animal for a mother and a father that pisses in the wind and doesnt care two poops about his offspring.

5 children, overwhelmed, no job...

Just because you can get pregnant and give birth, does not make you a parent.

This girl is sick..she will never be able to make this up to her children...

Well if she's not a "monster" then what term would she use to describe someone who abuses a small, helpless child?

"On Sept. 7, 2011, you savagely beat your child to the edge of death," State District Judge Larry Mitchell said. "For this you must be punished."

Yes.

Yep, if your own mother doesn't protect you, who will? I just hope they did not give her kids to her mother as it sounded like she was no better.

Oh, but she hung out with gang members and starting smoking pot at 11. (I guess, that's what the defense presented, to gain sympathy.) She's not a monster!!

Anyone who abuses a child, deserves "an eye for an eye" punishment.

I would be a horrible judge to this woman. I would glue her hands and feet to a wall and have her sewn shut from ever having kids again. All without pain relief.

Pain for pain dear inmate.

I heard about this a while back. SO glad she got such a severe punishment. But the grandmother does not seem like the best environment for these kids.

I just read the story and I am heartbroken for this precious little girl. I am so sickened by parents in this world who beat and destroy their children. This poor baby girl was in a coma and had several bite marks and broken rib etc??? I am so thankful this judge sentenced her for a long time. It is too bad she just can't get the death penalty. Her savage attacks on her child are atrocious and I can't believe someone would do this to their baby. I hope this little girl and her siblings get the help they need and are adopted into a loving family.

This sickens me. I fully believe that each person has the ability to rise above their childhood circumstances. So what if she had a crappy childhood. She was responsible for her children and she failed them miserably. Her punishment is just. I just hope that those kids rise above the family that they were born in...

T., I saw a little bit of it and flipped to something else, because I can't bear to read stuff like that. You gotta wonder what goes through someone's mind when they are doing crazy and cruel behaviors. It's not even a matter of a slap against the wall (as in a split second behavior). It's taking the time to get the glue and do it. That requires thought. I don't know how she would have a defense for this.

I just read the other posts that said the little girl is in a coma (can't stand to go read the link.) I'm glad that woman isn't going to be anywhere near her child again...

Dear heavens.

Yes I did. Made me sick to my stomach. There is no punishment strong enough for what she did. That poor child will be hurting forever. That's what makes me sad about this story. She will never forget what happened to her and she will likely never be able to trust again.

I agree with WifeofArmyHunk. And hopefully the kids are nabbed from from the equally vile grandma immediately.
