It appears my six year old son has had this for a while. Last year the pediatrician told us not to worry about the bumps that they would go away. He has had them off and on since then. This year the pediatrician told us to see a dermatologist. The dermatologist wants to cut them off. My son has one on each eyelid and two more on his chin. The ones on the eylids scare me. Has anyone else had this done? I am afraid that this is going to be tramatic for my son and me.

HI C.,

Topically on the eyes is difficult. High grade tea tree oil will get rid of it but NEVER put it near the eyes. The chin would be fine.

Viruses tend to stay away from people that have healthy digestive systems. Kid's L-Lysine will get rid of it. It's an amino acid that is depleted with certain illnesses/stress and needs to be replenished. The virus will go away with particular digestive enzymes as well. I used a product for the chicken pox called Virostop by Enzymatic Therapy. You can ask at the health store and they should be able to help with any particulars for your son.

The natural community has a better handle on viruses than the medical community. Cutting a virus tends to make it spread ( like a fever blister) so removing them, especially around the eyes could be dangerous.

God bless,
M.

Some friends of mine used "The Silver Cure" on their 1 year old daughter. It worked well. It is a colloidal silver gel they placed on it. I believe the website is thesilvercure.com They had originally taken her to a dermatologist who cut them off, but they came back twice. After using this stuff, she has never had it back.

Well...the dermatologist will numb the area before cutting anything off. I'm not sure why you are scared. You don't have to watch. The best thing is for your son to close his eyes while you talk or sing softly to him--you can close your eyes too.

If they aren't spreading (and you can keep him from scratching them) leave them a while longer. It can take a year for it to clear on its own. If they come to a "head" break them open with something sterile, wipe them with alcohol or peroxide, and keep covered with a bandage until they heal.

We had this is our house, it started with one of my children and after a while 3 of my kids had it. 2 of my kids had it pretty bad, one had them all over his face and the other because of exema got a ton of them on his arms. We went to a dermatologist and he too wanted to cut them off, my one son who had them on his face and all around his eyes, I did not feel comfortable with that. We ended up finding another dermatologist at St Louis Children's Hospital who used a cream on them. After a few doses they went away. I don't remember off the top of my head the name of the cream but it could only be used by the dr so we had to make the 2 hr drive there everY few wks for their dose.

Nah - Don't cut/shave them off. He's had them for many months, you said? Then treatment should be effective. Sometimes, if treated early in the virus' lifecycle, the bumps just come back.

Ask your dermatologist about painting the bumps with what our derm called a "1,000 year old cure." Whatever it was, she said it was made of blister beetles (scientific name "Cantharidine")...Yes, made of insects. Was super ultra effective. They paint them and 30 minutes later, you wash them off. With 24-36 hours they crust up and drop off. Viola!
