I did Nova Sure. I had it done about 3 years ago and had one light period afterward and not another since. Recovery was easy and I would do it again. I have also had an IUD and was not happy with it.

I have the mirena and really love it. I haven't had any problems or anything, so for me, it's great. A close friend of mine just had an abalation done and she's happy with the results. She felt fine, minor cramping and was back on with her regular life the next day. Both options are probably really good so I guess you just have to decide what sounds the best for you.

I'm having NovaSure on April 26th and cannot wait! We are done having kids (vastectomy) and I don't feel it necessary (or even a good, healthy option) to be on any kinds of hormones manymore!

Check out the side-effects of Mirena - the top three are weight gain (no, thank you, it's hard enough to keep the weight off as I get older); acne (just got this under control and don't want to go through that again); and mood swings (just ask my husband, that is not a good thing!)

I've talked with several friends/acquiantances who've had this done as well and haven't heard a bad story yet, except in one extreme case where she had to have it done again after a year and then ended up with a partial hysterectomy. But again, that was an extreme case of heavy/abnormal bleeding.

Good luck with your decision.

Hey you! I'm having Nova Sure on May 31st...I'll be your guinea pig. All the other moms said it was great and stopped the bleeding completley. (I think we may have the same doctor.)

I chose the Nova sure ablation almost three years ago. It was a super easy surgery and recovery was great. No bleeding at all now!! Problem solved!

I have the Mirena and it's great, but when it expires I'm going for the ablation...I love the idea of a more permanent solution!
