Migraines, Cramping, and nausea...help!

Good morning,

I am the mother of a 14 month old baby girl who is still breastfeeding in the evening and mornings. My daughter had a milk-soy intolerance so I vowed to breastfeed her until she was able to tolerate milk well (working on the milk challenge now). At any rate I have been on a strict diet along with her for the past 13 months. In the last week and a half I have been experiencing nausea, migraines and some cramping. I am not sure if this could be the return of my menstrual cycle or something else. I have also been under a lot of stress at work so I am not discounting that possibility. I am asking whether anyone else has experienced this and/or whether you think this might be normal fluctuations in hormones. I did consider that I might be pregnant again, but the test was negative (although it was negative with my daughter as well). Anyway, just reaching out for advice since it is really beginning to get me that I seem to have a migraine every day and that the nausea will not go away! Oh, in case you were wondering I had never experience nausea with migraines before and the nausea is present even when my head is not hurting. Any information welcomed. Thank you!

What can I do next?

It could just be the return of your period along with the stress you are experiencing. However, I wouldn't discount pregnancy yet.

But here is my big advice. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on. It may be nothing to worry about but if they continue for a set period of time they may want you to come in and have some tests run. They may also want to run another pregnancy test.

Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck with this and hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi, D.!
First of all, GOOD FOR YOU for nursing your daughter for so long! That is awesome & you will both reap the rewards for the rest of your lives! I just can't congratulate you enough on that!

As for the migraines, have you tried chiropractic treatment at all? That might work really nicely for you. I swear by it!!!!

If you live anywhere near the Forks Township/Easton area, I go to an amazing chiropractor!!! I'd be happy to share his name with you!

Good luck & congratulations again!

Sounds like your pregnant...I would get an appointment with your doctor asap to find out what's going on just to be sure either way.

My daughter is 17 months and for the past 2 months I've had terrible migraines along with nausea on and off. I believe the decrease in nursing is what is causing my problem. It may be the same for you. My daughter nurses once in the middle of the night now and maybe one time during the day but not everyday. If you are concerned you may be pregnant then you should probably get a blood test.

I hope you feel better soon!

It may be just the hormones, but to me it sounds like my regular migraines. There are times when I have them almost every day, or I have nausea and the head is ok, even though I can feel it that is there (I know, it's funny way of saying, but that is how it feels).
I would go to the doctor and have a check-up. It may be your bile also (nausea is many times caused by it). Tell your doctor what you are experiencing and how you feel nausea without the headache. It matters the order also (headache first or nausea first). Good luck!
