Menstrual Cycle

I'm little confused about my period recently. Since I have been on birth control, Loestrin, my cycle starts every month on the 22. In December, it started on the 22, but quickly ended 1 day later. Then I started again on the 1 January(period was normal) and then I just started again today on 16th. Why is my cycle so messed up? I'm a little confused...Should I wait to see how next month plays out before I call the OBYGN.

What can I do next?

I would call your dr. or nurse. I had this happen to me. The dr said that the medicine, in the down week, wasn't strong enough and was causing the cycle to come and go, come and go.

Sounds like they maybe too strong. I know it does take about 2 months to see if they are a good match for you. I asked the doc to put me on a new one so I could only have a period like 3 times a year... THEY made me CRAZY. I was being hateful to everyone.... When this was pointed out to me and that the birth control was started around the same time. I stopped. About a month later I returned to my old self again. It was crazy. I would wake up in the am ready to kick butt. I would wait for someone to upset me so I could release everything on them. Birth control can be crazy stuff.

J., even though you are on birth control, sometimes your egg came become fertilized and still try to implant as it would for a normal, non contraception conception, and your body will begin to respond to the fertilized eff by starting to go about as if you are pregnant, because that is basically what thebeginning of pergnancy is- a fertilized egg. However, when on birth control the egg cannot implant, the body flushes or aborts the fertilized egg and begins the whole process of your normal routine once again...kind of like a reset button

This may not be of comfort to you to hear it, but it is quite possible that this is what happened to you.

I would call your OBGYN. There is probably a simple fix or answer, so why wait another month. Less worry that way. Call during office hours -- that is what your doctor is there for.

My first question to you. When did you start the birth control?

yes i would wait for at least 3months to give your body time to adjust to the pill. id say the first time was just spotting. the 2nd a period and now the 3rd time might be short as well or another period by which your cycle might now be set: the 16th of every month.
every pill is different. they can regulate, shorten, lengthen and even make you miss periods. if the pill is too strong or too weak for your body then you will experience some of the above. hopefully things will even out soon. but dont be afraid to ask for a different dosage or even a different pill after discussing it w/ your dr and figuring out what the issue is.

The same thing happened to me for about the first 3 months on Loestrin. Now it comes like clock work. I would hang in there for a little longer before calling your Doc.
