cough drops work great, fishermans freind taste bad but work very well. But if it is worse than that see your doctor.

Ibuprofen and Tylenol are fine for pain, but don't take any antihystamine or decongestant, they can decrease milk supply. Most cough drop are OK, and a salt water garggle can feel really good! Sip some hot tea maybe!

I breastfed my daughter too and for your sore throat, I would say try some of the Chloraseptic throat spray to help numb it. Also, gargle for several minutes with warm salt water. I know it sounds old school but I do it anytime I get a sore throat and it really helps to cleanse and rinse the throat. It's like the same idea behind saline nose drops, but warm. Neither will affect your breast milk.

I would go to Sprouts or Whole Foods and see what natural cures they have. You have to be soooo careful with meds. I just read yesterday that codine turns to morphine in breastmilk... scary stuff!!! If you can tough it out, that would be my advice, even though its crummy!

I was told that virtually any tylenol product is safe. I was either breastfeeding or pregnant for four years and that is all I ever took. I usually only took one dose a day. I, however, am a bit paranoid about taking medications, so I always consulted with my doctor, pediatrician or pharmacist first. I hope you are feeling better soon.
