Maury Show

Ok, today as I was relaxing and eating my lunch while my little one slept, I decided to watch a little TV. EVERY and I mean EVERY time I pass by the Maury show, it's DNA tests. Today I stopped and watched a couple of the tests done and are these woman's reactions for real or does the show tell them to behave the way they do? Woman were falling to the floor screaming and crying and just sobbing so loudly backstage like they were ready to hyper ventilate. Am I the only one who feels this show is a little degrading in some ways and it's making certain communities in our country look REALLY bad?? On a side note of that show though, it baffles me that a woman can return multiple times and not be embarrassed on national TV that she still doesn't know who her childs father is.

How much of the show is fake and how much is for real??

Just more or less me thinking out loud today:)

What can I do next?

Haha. That show is so ridiculous. He used to have "real" topics! I remember this one show on Progeria (probably about 20 years ago!) when his show was more normal. It was informational and not such drama. I wonder what happened there!

I happen to know people who made up stories to be on Jerry when they were in college, just to get a trip. There may be true stories on some of those shows, but I think many of them are made up for TV and their reactions are over blown for TV. Nine, ten, twelve paternity tests? Really? Right.

Most of them are fake with hired actors. Some stories are real but the reactions and such are often coached. Maury obviously has lost his grip and can't think of anything else. He has only been doing DNA tests, or "sorry honey, I'm sleeping with your mom" or, "is it a man or a woman!" shows for the past 5 years or so. I honestly can't believe he's still on the air.

A child's conception date can be estimated to a few days time frame. I find it hard to believe so many people have sex with 15+ people in a three day time frame and still can't figure out who the dad is.

Oh, Cheaters is fake as well. I have a few friends who have 'acted' on the show before, said it was fun and fast, easy money.

I have a friend whose son owns a business of exotic dancers, and they provide "plants" in the audience for Maury. I would say there's definitely a fake aspect going on in that show. Just stupid sensationalism to get ratings.

I always wonder that about Jerry Springer. I can't imagine why people would want their messed up lives broadcasted on national TV. I guess I just hope that when people are trying to make opinions about our country that they go to more creditable sources than Maury and Jerry :-) The Jerry Springer always has the people end up trying to fight one another. I wonder the same thing? Does everyone seriously want to slap the other and pull their hair out or are they told to do it? lol Gatta love crappy daytime TV. :-)

My husband watches Maury every winter when he is on layoff! He is sick. We feel the same, How many men could you possibly sleep with in 2 weeks and not remember them??? It's pretty much the same show every day. It's sick. Sick that they put in on tv .Sick that these women have no shame to come on tv. And sick that my 30 year old husband becomes addicted to it each winter and I am forced to watch it if I am downstairs!

I really do think the reactions are real but I think they go through a lot of people to find the best show. Back in the day I would watch it just because the DNA tests cracked me up. Okay so chick comes in with five guys that could be dad including the one she was sure it was. None of them. So a couple weeks later she comes back with round two, five more guys. Now this woman is not a prostitute mind you, none of them are the dad. So round three, five more guys, nope. I missed round four but I remember her sobbing and saying well maybe this guy or that and good old Maury saying we will do this until we find out who little Junior's dad is.

Okay this is 15 guys, there is a maybe five day window of opportunity!!! This should not be that complicated!!!

Ahh good times.

Oh just an FYI I worked with women who had no idea who the daddy was. Granted they had it narrowed down to around five guys, for sure, but still, some people just don't live the same lifestyle we do.

I always wondered if it was real or fake also. I won't forget the time the girl had already been on there 3 times and had DNA tests on 14 men and not one was the father but wait, we'll keep testing until we find out who the father is. I also love it when the girl is like, look at him. He has his fathers nose and eyes and that boy is NOT the father. OR that she only slept with that one guy who was NOT the father and the lie detector test also proved that he was NOT the father but the lie detector was wrong. It is rather amusing.
It is almost like Jerry Springer except they don't show boobage for beads.

This question makes me laugh! Yes, I think Maury is the modern day Jerry Springer! I think it's probably a mixture of real and fake. There probably are some really sleezy people who have mulitple partners or date inappropriate people and don't see anything wrong with it...BUT, I'm sure the producers are doing their share of encouragement too! I'm also not surprised to hear there are plants in the audience, etc.
