Mattress Stains

We bought a very expensive ($2500) S&F mattress a few years ago. We love it and don't have any problems with it.... BUT.. At some point when I was washing the mattress pad we got a couple stains on the mattress (ugh, timing is everything huh)... These are pretty old so I'm worried I won't be able to get them out. One is a very small "female" stain, and the other is a little bigger its yellowish from my daughter's diaper leaking in bed! Of course both of these things had to happen when the dang mattress pad wasn't on! grr... And I know that stains void the mattress warranty! This stresses me out since its such an expensive mattress! So, my question .... Is there any way to get these stains out?

**EDIT : I didn't ask for opinions or advice on whether or not I should let my toddler sleep in my bed.... I CHOOSE to let her sometimes, in the mornings at night or whenever and thats our choice. I do not/will not regret it.. THANKS to all of you responding to the actual question! :)

What can I do next?

I never even thought about saying anything about what you made your edit about... : ) Goes to show that people only focus on what they want to most of the time... *giggles*

Anywho, I think the only thing that worked for me was a mix of Borax and water into a paste... Scrub it in, put a towel over it and tape the towel down for a few days. Pull it off after a few days and vacuum it up.

It worked for my ex-husband that wet the bed (at 30yrs old)! Lol!

You might try a carpet cleaning machine. The water goes in and back out quickly so as not to soak in. The stains might not come all the way out, but at least you will know it's a "clean" stain that you have tried to get out yourself. Anyway...who cares, it's YOUR mattress, usually under the mattress pad. On the co-sleeping...you do whatever you want! Nothing wrong with a baby in your bed!! We did it for years and have never regretted having our little sweeties close.

Hydrogen Peroxide works on blood. I'm a vet tech and we sometimes get blood on our clothing from animals at work and peroxide always works to get it out. For the urine stains, I would use some kind of enzymatic cleaner to break it down. I just wouldn't over-saturate the mattress with anything. Good Luck!

You could try sponging a damp enzyme-based cleaner into it repeatedly, and blotting in between. The enzymes are good at breaking down most protein-based stains. Follow with, or alternate with, hydrogen peroxide, which some people swear by for blood stains.

Enzyme cleaners are available at both natural food stores in the laundry aisle, and at pet supply stores for pet accidents.

You don't want to over-saturate the stain with any type of cleaning liquid or water as this will cause the foam and any other stuffing to compress. Cleaning the stain may actually cause the mattress to have problems down the road if you get it too wet. You may be better off not cleaning the stain and hoping you don't have a warranty claim. If I were you, I would not attempt to clean the stains until you have a problem with the mattress that would cause you to call on the warranty.

Try Carbona (?) stain removers. They're in most laundry aisles. There's one for blood.
But Urine Gone will be good for the diaper stain. There are enzymes in it to break it down.
Quit putting a diapered baby on the mattress. They belong in their own bed. And there are mattress covers that have polyurethane coating on one side.

read 5the back of the oxy container in mix the amount in a bottle n soak the stain with that in an hr scrub it with some oxy n rinse it n blot the stain till bearly any thing on the towel or if you have the bissel mini stain cleaning machine you can use that after scrubbing with oxy. the oxy should take it out sitting for an hr.

When my in-laws had a similar problem from a grandchild having an accident they used a steam cleaner. I know that is was NOT a pillowtop mattress though, and most new ones are, so I am not sure if that will help you. I wonder if a cleaner for pet stains might work? Good luck!
