How about not putting make-up and a 6 or 8 year at all?????? Make-up is meant for woman, let them be little girls!
Ok Dance Moms I need help. This is the first year my daughter has done competitive dance and I'm trying to figure out the make up. Our dance school provided the eye showdow and lipstick and then told us to go out and get a foundation, blush, eye liner and mascara that worked with our daughters skin tone. I thought - no problem. Then got to thinking that I'm sure my little danceing princess will need some make up with staying power. I don't use heavy make up, usually just the powder type, so I look at the store and there are all kinds that promise to last all day. So my question is - which founations and blushes will really last and look good since I have to cake this stuff on her (doing exactly what I said I wouldn't do when she first started dance - Ha!!) Thanks for your advice!
Thanks for all the advise. I'm going to check out a couple of the suggestions given. We have a class for Moms in January to learn how to put the make up on the girls without it looking like too much on the stage. The owner of our school dosen't want the girls to look washed out on stage. So hopefully I can find some that will last the day that she dances so that I don't have to keep adding more. Thanks again for the advise.

I was a dancer for 15 years. Ballet, tap, jazz...everything. I went all over the states for competitions. You can really use any makeup. Its the way it is applied that matters. Foundation isnt as important as the blush and eyes. Make them stand out. Practice at home before the competition so your not lost when you get there, since competitions are a lot of rushing and being prepared. How old is your daughter? The younger girls dont need as much as the older girls. But like i said...eyes and blush are important! Lipstick too! Good Luck and Happy dancing :)
I agree with the other moms - Clinique is the way to go. If you are looking for something less expensive though, Cover Girl blush also has some serious staying power! It is what my sister and I used for dance recitals as little girls.
Honestly, you really shouldn't need much if any make up for such a young child. Competitive dance can get pretty mature pretty quick. I'd be very weary of diving into the cliche of it all so quick. If they are insisting your daughter wear tons of make up, you should seriously consider if it's the right path in the long run. I've been teaching dance for 15+ years and dread the thought of little ones being forced to wear make up. If you really must use something, a little blush and lip gloss is more than fine at a young age. Less is always more when we are talking about young girls!
number 1 the fact they want girls to waer foundation is totally crazy....but if you need to follow their rules get the bare minerals products....it's not cakey in the least bit...I am so glad my daughter was the athlete and not a dancer.....i would have told them to take thier eye liner and shove it somewhere.....sorry....no offense....having one of those days.......
My little cousin is a figure skater and I'm in the dress making industry and most of the girls that I work with for dresses wear waterproof makeup so that if they sweat, it doesn't run onto their clothes and it doesn't rub off onto the dresses so badly when they are changing outfits. I believe my cousin uses Clinique. I'd go to Dillards and talk to a beauty consultant (someone with experience who's been working there for a while).
Good luck and have fun!
I can't believe you are going to put make up on a girl so young. If that's what they want for dance competitions, I can't believe you're doing that, either.
I do mary kay and have samples if you live around here I would happy to help you. just email me!!
Ditto Clinique. I used to work for them when I was in college (many, many, MANY years ago!!) and still use it to this day (and I'm in my 40's!). They have an extensive product line that is perfect for her young skin.
Go to Dillards, Macy's or VonMaur, the prices are regulated and are the same no matter where you purchase. It hurts to pay extra for it, but it's worth not having to deal with an allergic reaction. Plus, if you use it for dance only, it should last for awhile.
Good luck!
