My best friend was diagnosed about 5 years ago, she is on a cruise right now but when she gets back I will get info from here and let you know. It will prob be about a week (sorry I wish I could tell you some stuff now)
hi moms I am opening up here a little. I was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 18 I believe it was now 33 and am doing very well actually except for the fatigue and joint pain coming here and there I have been taking a drug called plaquenil for the disease and have done very well with this. I only have to see my doc once a year so I have to say I have been blessed and taken care of by a higher power. anyways my question is this,do any of you or relatives friends etc. have this disease and if so have they found anything helpful natural or otherwise that has been an aid in their journey along the way? alternatives? anything to add? it's worth a try! :>)
i appreciate you all. please keep posting if anyone else? :>)

My mom had it. The dr. told her to wear a MINIMUM of 50 SPF AT ALL TIMES. Apparently, the sun affects it quite a bit. She kept a journal; I'll have to see if I can find it for referral.
Yes, there are natural things that can help. My sister-in-law has lupus and although she is very conservative she did take one recommendation I was able to offer that has helped with her energy levels. I am a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I offered her a vitamin regiment. Although she was doubtful, after two weeks her energy levels increased. I also have a book that makes a few recommendations. If you would like details let me know and I will write you a longer response.!
My mother has lupus and struggles with it. She has tried different herbal and natural things but I don't think she has had much luck. She has even tried certain jewelry that is supposed to be good for the joint pain. It is some kind of magnetic jewelry.
Hello!! My sister has lupus, she too takes the plaquenil. I'm sure she would be more than happy to chat with you on some things that she does, if you want send me a message to my inbox and I can get you her email address if you want to chat with her.
Hi D.,
I am a newly diagnosised Lupus patient. I was diagnosised in 12/9 and I was completely in shock after my initial diagnosis. No one in my family has the illness or any other immune systerm disease. One of the more important things that I am learning is to determine what causes the disease to flare. This maybe hard to determine, because that may be unique to each individual. I take plaquenil, along with Prestidone (sp) and Lisipinrol (Sp). I have not found anything natural or herbal remedies thus far. I am in the process of seeking a support group to reach out to others with this illness. The best advice I can give you is to rest, pray, and take it easy. I had to realize that I could not do it all and be healthy. Good luck to you, God will continue to take care of you.

I am a natural healing therapist specializing in integration therapies. I have a couple of suggestions. One is to find a book by Dr. Peter D'Adamo, Live Right 4 Your Type. After years of research and experimentation, he has learned that people with different blood types thrive better on different foods and require different types of exercise for optimum health. If I do not stay close to the right diet for my type, I suffer from inflammatory problems that can be quite disabling. I know several other people who have pulled themselves out of chronic and disabling conditions by sticking to the foods that are most beneficial for their type.
If there is an integration therapist or a good acupuncturist near you, I would definitely recommend trying these types of therapies as well. Many people do not try these therapies because we were not taught to understand these types of sciences in school. So, many believe they are unscientific. Some call these therapies 'energy therapies' and we think of 'energy' as a feeling of vitality. But, it is better if we understand these energies as circuits of energy intelligence that work like an information feedback system. In other words, this system of energy thinks like a computer. Our bodies were programed for self maintenance and self healing. When we stop healing ourselves or develop an autoimmune disorder, the body's energy programs have become confused. So basically, the part of you that knows what the problem is has lost communication with the program in you that knows what to do about it. In case of an autoimmune disorder, you can think of it like a computer virus that has confused the system into unravelling itself. The acupuncturist or integration therapist helps the body's energy intelligence system to communicate and function with increased coherence and efficiency. So, you can think of these 'energy workers' as the folks who reprogram the human biocomputer.
I see you live in the Carthage area. I don't know anyone there, but I can recommend a therapist in Springfield who might know other therapists in the area. If you are interested you can send me a message and I will connect you with her.
May you be blessed with increasing wellness and strength.
