I am 26 years old and have a 19 month old. She was breast fed until she was 12 months. for 6 months I had no period but i was ovulating. In august and july I had some random spotting but not a period. Also my ovulation times were not regular and showed no signs. Then in october I found out I was finally pregnant and a week and a half later miscarried. I have had an ultra sound done so i know I have no cysts. I have hypothyroidism but its managed very well and I was able to concieve my daughter very easily. Has this happened to anyone else?

What can I do next?

I had 3 miscarriages before my son, which was a completely easy, breezy pregnancy. Miscarriage is extremely common (although tough emotionally). I remember reading a statistic somewhere that something like 50% of pregnancies terminate in miscarriage. You're not alone and I'm very sorry for your loss.

My SIL had 2 MCs after a very easy and healthy first preg.
Sometimes, your hormonal structure just changes into something funky. Usually it's easy to fix, unfortunately it just requires preg loss to know it's an issue.
Also, there may not be ANYTHING wrong with you. A mc can happen on its own because the embryo is developmentally unbalanced and cannot create a sustaninable life. It's awful, but sometimes, that just happens.
I'm sorry you had to deal with this.

Hi H.,

I am so sorry for your loss, and for this confusing season in your life. I know personally how disappointing and sad this time can be.

I have had many, many friends who have had miscarriages (sometimes two) between children. One thing I've heard over the years is that it take our bodies at least 2 years to get our hormones back into a pre-pregnancy balance, although our bodies don't always follow that rule, any more than the "you can't get pregnant if you are nursing" rule.

If it were me, and I were wanting to continue having children, I'd check in with my gynecologist first. (Which is sounds like you have.) I also highly recommend Dr. Toni Wexler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". Your library might have a copy. I found this book extremely insightful.

My best wishes,
H.

mine was caused by a uti. get checked by your doctor for everything when i had mine they were able to tell me why I had it. ask your gyno obst and he should be able to tell you why you miscarried by the blood work. hang in there miscarriage is hard you will go through a million diffrent emotions but they are all normal and just remember it is not your fault. it just happens.

I'm not quite what you're asking.

Lots of women have miscarriages. My OB said the miscarriage rate is around 50% of all pregnancies.

i've had 3 miscarriages myself. from what i've learned every pregnancy comes with a cyst. the cyst must exist because it produces the hormone progesterone which keeps a viable pregnancy intact. well into the 2nd trimester, the uterus is mature enough to produce progesterone on its own so the cyst dissolves.
what throws up a red flag for me is how your ovulation times were irregular. it makes me wonder if your hormone levels are off. if you dont have adequate levels of progesterone... 1- its nearly impossible to get pregnant, and 2- you most likely wont stay pregnant. doctors dont typically squawk too much about 1 miscarriage. 3 is the magic number- it isnt until 3 miscarriages that they will suggest you seek testing from a fertility clinic. however- the 1st thing i suggest you do is insist your doctor check your hormone levels, particularily your progesterone level. if you're not making enough, they will put you on a progesterone supplement (i suggest the vaginal suppository because it delivers the hormone right to the needed area) once you get pregnant again. downfall is some insurance plans dont cover the progesterone vaginal suppositories. keep in mind that you are most fertile AFTER you have a baby or miscarriage. so as soon as you get the ok to try again- go for it girl!! and BEST of luck :D
