Looking to Do Child Care from Home

Just wondering where you are in Joliet? I also live in Joliet and have two children - Olivia will be three on May 6th and Gus is 19 months. I am relatively new to Joliet (less than a year) and live in the Cathedral Area near St. Raymond's. I previously lived in Woodridge and am still driving my kids to a home-based daycare in Downers Grove each day and then taking the train to work in Chicago - ugh! I would love to find something closer to home. Maybe something could work for both of us?

P., The law states that you only can watch 3 children total in a 24 hour period.You must count your own child which means you can only watch 2other children between 6 weeks and 12 .Ijust wanted you to knowthe law if you are not familar with it. D....

you need to contact the department of children and family services in joliet. they will mail you a packet of info and the necessary forms to get started. it takes a while. your house is inspected. medicals are a must, fingerprints are done etc.

The first thing you want to do is find the number to your local D.C.F.S. office. Each provider is Licensed through the state of il through DCFS. You are only allowed to watch 3 children without a license in your home, your kids included. So to me it sounds like you would have to become licensed through the state. Also, try calling Childcare Resource and Referral at ###-###-####. They are a great agency in Will, Kane, and Grundy Counties and they help people who are trying to start in daycare.
