Looking to Buy an SUV, Any Favorites Out There?

I am looking to upgrade my sedan to an SUV since we will be adding another baby to our family in May. My top picks right now are the Lexus GX, Volco SC90, & Toyota Sequoia. I'm also considering the Honda Pilot, Saturn Outlook, Acura MDX, etc., but I'm keeping my options open! My main concerns are safety rating, size (lots of storage, seating) and functionality (I definitely want a fold down 3rd row seat). I've researched Consumer Reports, so I'm just looking for feedback from moms with SUVs to see what you love/hate.

What can I do next?

we researched forever, and test drove a few. I love our Mazdacx9. it is the best. high safety rating very sleek for a seven seater, decent gas mileage and very cost effective. make sure that whatever you get, get your internet pricing first and we had great luck negotiating by phone with the manager. we were able to get about 7 grand off of msrp.
good luck!!
I did love our lexus rx330, but the seven seater lexus would be wayn more than we wanted to spend.

My husband is the Gen. Manager in Temecula for Honda/Acura. The pilot was redesigned in 2009 and looks great if your looking for more of a "name" then Acura's are great if money isn't a factor. Just call my husband after you have test drove near by at Hoehn, he'll beat any one's prices and even have it delivered to your frontdoor so you don't have to drag your kids to a car dealership for 3 hours. Call me and I'll get you through to him, pass on the info. to all your friends W. ###-###-####, mother of 3 girls 7-5-2y/o

Audi Q7!!! I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. Great size (not too big) and lots of room (extra 3rd row.
I have 2 boys, 3 1/2 and 15 mo. and lots of nieces and nephews that I cart around. This car drives insane and still has lots of room for kids, dog, surfboards, etc.
Good luck!

I love my Maxda CX-9. We bought it last year when we were expecting our first child and both my husband and I are crazy about it, and the infant car seat fits perfectly in the center seat in the second row. My only gripes are that it doesn't have an on-board trip computer (keeping track of your MPG, etc.), but I understand the 2009 model has it, and if you buy a model with the button to automatically close the rear lift gate, you cannot find a privacy cover to cover up your stuff in the cargo space. Have fun car shopping!

Hi J.,

Congrats on the new one. I have the Lexus GX 470 and love it. 3rd row seat is smaller and when you have the seats in use there's very little storage room. Not the greatest on gas and it uses premium. I was very pleased with our experience at the lexus dealership. First oil change is free. But the next one will get ya at $200. You do get a "free" loner car which is nice. Passenger seat it's that roomy. My husband is 6'1" about 220 he doesn't like to go to far in my car. My husband wanted to get this car because of the safety rating. I love the allwheel drive and having the option of 4wheel drive. Well, good luck
