We're having our second baby at the end of January - the last one was born in July, so total opposite seasons! I'm needing a coat - mine is fitted and the belly is already too big. I really don't want to spend $$$ on a coat that will only be worn for one season, so has anyone had luck finding one at one of the consignment sales? I'm thinking of going to the arlington JBF sale next week - would it be worth checking out?
Thanks for all the ideas! I did go to the JBF sale, and it was great, but still no coat. I got a couple large fleece jackets from Goodwill and I think that will do just fine - if it's so cold those won't work, I'm not going outside! :)

Hi J.,
I am currently pregnant with my third child and I have purchased nearly all of my clothing from Kid 2 Kid resale shops in Plano and Allen(2 seperate stores) and Sugar n Spice resale in Plano. I generally paid around $6 for pants and $4-7 for tops. I do go in the stores about once a week to check their selection and have also purchased a lot of baby items...mostly brand new from these stores. Sweet Pea Consign is also having a sale at the beginning of November and I purchased all of my baby's bedding, furniture, clothes, blankets, and some maternity clothes, etc. from that sale. You can look them up on line as well.
I hope this helps!!
Blessings!
Hi, J..
I found a couple of cute things at the JBF sale in Ft. Worth in September. I'm glad you asked the question because I'm due in the middle of January and am having a hard time finding small sizes new/consignment or otherwise!
Where else have people shopped consignment maternity? Any upscale? (unfortunately, those small sizes are the only ones that are fitting me and I don't want to pay upscale prices!)
Good luck, J.! and thanks to all who respond!
I've been to one JBF sale and don't remember seeing many maternity clothes there. Have you tried looking for a maternity coat at Target? They usually have prety cute stuff in their Liz Lange line for reasonable prices...or Old Navy?? That's where I got pretty much ALL my maternity clothes.
I would try Kid to Kid, Once Upon a Child, or Finders Keepers. These are all kids second-hand shops that sell maternity clothes as well. Or you could just splurge on a wrap, they are so in this season and you could wear it non pregnant as well....Nordstroms and Dillards both have good selections....the ones at Dillards are only around $30. Good luck!!
I would definitely check it out. Also check local consignment shops. You may be able to just get a coat in a larger size to get ya through.
I would look at thrift stores, big Goodwill Stores and Salvation Army stores. There are wonderful stores that give proceeds to women's shelters where clothes are donated from very "high end" people!
You'll be able to find what you need, believe me!
Well J., what I'm doing is using my regular coat and a scarf. Since you are pregnant you won't be getting cold on your belly. So, I use my regular coat and the scarf to cover my chest! I did this for my 1st daughther (now almost 2 yr old) and I'm pregnant again with my second child. She's due on Dec. too, so you know what I'm doing for this time around. Hope this helps!
Hi J.,
I do not have a maternity coat, and I know that is what you really need. But I did want to let you know that we are holding a garage sale this Saturday, from 8-2, and I will be selling lots maternity clothes, so you might find something else that would benefit you! The address is 3925 Ringdove Way Roanoke TX 76262. Good luck to you!
Absolutely, go!! You can get great deals there. I bought my now 3 yr old's entire crib bedding for 50.00. The lady selling it was there and said it was custom made, which was obvious, and she paid 300.00 to have it done. They have clothes for moms, babies and kids. It would be well worth your time. I would also suggest places like Goodwill, Thrift Town, CCA (depending on where you live) and other resale shops. Hope you find what you need, esp. since it looks to be a colder than normal winter!
I looked at thrift stores weekly for a few weeks and got a lot of great deals. You have to look through the stuff, some if ugly stuff from the 80s, but you will find great bargains like the name brand current jeans, sweaters, ect.
What I love about them too is that they are so lightly warn because people dont wear them for long. I purchased a whole winter wardrobe for under $50 when I was pregnant with my son!
I have had great luck at the consignment sales. I got a winter maternity coat at the Divine Consign sale last year. There is also a baby consignment sale this week in Carrollton that has maternity clothes. I've never been to it but you might check it out. http://www.carouselconsign.com/
You may have better luck at the JBF sale as it's larger. You might also check Craigslist.
